Also great R. Bach books to give to tori--The Bridge Across Forever, One, and Running from Safety. I also recommend that Toriphiles study this phylosophy (i can *never* spell that word!) of Richard and Leslie Bach. They speak on the different levels that Tori does. IMHO of course. but if you can believe in fairies, then you should read these books!!! And if Sir Bach does not, he should. Wonder how one would get some sort of address to turn him on to LE? hmm? The picture is not a bad scan as I have poster with this picture on it. It is the tour poster for the England leg of the tour entitled Tori Amos Plugged '98. On the poster her hair is dark so it is just the way the picture is. You won't find a lighter scan, as that is what it looks like. Ste. What cool is that among the fans there are so many people of varying ages on the same 'wavelength'. What's dissapointed me about much of the music of the 80's is that those artists aimed their music at a particular audience but never let their work evolve as the orginal fans got older. I bet I can hear Tori 10 years from now and still enjoy her music just the same as today, but alot of the metal I used to listen to boiled down to 'turn it up loud! really make your parents mad!' (with some good exceptions of course!). Fun to listen to when you're 15, but not at 27 :-) I can't think of very much from 10 years ago that I can still appreciate today, but I get this feeling that if hypothetically Tori had come along in 1987 or 88 doing what she does now, I'd still be listening today and enjoying just the same, perhaps even more as time went by. Although what I regret the most about who I was 10 years ago was lacking the maturity- not age per se but simply letting myself be so cold about things, and looking back it's like I have the memories of some other person- a total stranger. But I truly hope I would have been able to appreciate her music if it had been around back then. anyway- It's great having a group of people of varying ages all relating on the same level. :-) Simon ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 2 Mar 1998 12:23:57 +0000 From: Ken Tough Subject: Record collector fair in UK There will be a massive collector's fair for CDs and Records at the Olympia (London) convention centre, March 7 & 8. I hear from TTTS that Tori's recording-barn is supposedly in Week St. Mary[1], which is in the north of Cornwall. (Not really self-respecting cornwall, since it's only just across the Tamar river :) It's a nice part of the country, up between Launceston and the sea. I figured it must be up that way, since they said it was only 4 hours from London. It's not far from Tintagel, the castle which is the legendary "conception place" of King Arthur (now there's some tenuous history for you). Tintagel itself is a pretty cool site, not so much a castle as a few stones lying around, but the old "Merlin" bit is played up a bit too much; you wouldn't want to go there during holiday season. Still, the North Coast is a beautiful place, very rugged with lots of crashing waves, and it's not all that far north of Bodmin Moor, with its history of rogues and The Jamaica Inn (Daphne Du Maurier) and the "beast of Bodmin" (supposed wild pumas) and all that. Don't know if any of that is of interest, but some people have wondered where in Cornwall the recording happened. I hope some "flavour" of the county made it to the new album. His name is Brian Transeau. Techno guy. He remixed Talula for Tori (The Tornado Mix and The Synethasia Mix). So, Tori is friends with BT and she went into the studio with some of his music and recorded lots of vocals.. she just sang and sang.. and then Brian took all the vocals and re-arranged them, making the song "Blue Skies."
