I don't mean that Tori herself would have lost any of the magic, but for me its like finding out your best friend got married and now you have to share her with someone else. I hope this doesn't sound ridiculis, though I would have loved to throw her a batcherlorette party or something, hire a male stripper dressed up as a cop, and share a good imported chocolate collection from Belgium or France that costs $50 a pound. ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 28 Feb 1998 02:47:04 EST From: Adia 509 Subject: Re: Tori's favorite Book or Author Well, I heard she is a big fan of Alice Walker and Niel Gaimen. ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 28 Feb 1998 04:01:12 EST From: MM62 Subject: for mark In a message dated 2/27/98 10:20:56 PM, you wrote: <> whoah... isn't "for mark" a cover?? did tori write "for mark" for her husband like a long time ago? did they go out before? i mean i don't want to pry into tori's personal life, honest it really doesn't concern me, i just want to know about the song because i thought it was a b-side or cover or something that she wrote a long time ago, before she met mark (her new husband). i think you maybe thinking of eric rosse, tori's ex who she wrote a bunch of songs for i think... ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 28 Feb 1998 02:20:45 -0800 From: violet@torithoughts.org Subject: Re: for mark MM62 wrote: >did tori write "for mark" for her husband like a long time ago? did they >go out >before? She did, in fact, write it for *that* Mark, yes. They've been going out for nearly three-and-a-half years now, since 1994. Mike Gray wrote: >As for "For Mark" as a B-Side, I'd be very surprised. I would cast my vote for the song turning up as a b-side, not as an album track. You're spot on. My brain's leaking this weekend... sorry everyone. Cheers Mike ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 28 Feb 1998 22:40:54 +0800 From: "Subashini" Subject: Tori's Married? Wow, that's great. I'm kinda lost here...when did it happen, does anybody know? Anyway....congrats to Tori--she's found domestic bliss. ;) I actually found about this through the Sarah McLachlan mailing list first. :) Subash ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 28 Feb 1998 16:41:55 GMT0BST From: Ruthless Subject: Tori and Nina Simone Hi everybody, I was so happy to read somebody on this list appreciates Nina. She is my favourite. I find her music absolutely empowering: Nina has done alot for the advancement of both African Americans and women. And, Tori's cover of Strange Fruit always brings me to tears because I can see sweet Nina singing the same song with the same intense emotion. Both versions turn me into a little puddle on the floor. Nina just performed at Royal Albert Hall, hopefully she'll return to grace with her voice. If she does, I'd be happy to meet anyone before the show. Take Care, Ruth After silence, that which comes nearest to expressing the inexpressable is music. - - Aldous Huxley ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 28 Feb 1998 14:22:18 -0600 From: Molly Marguerite J Bass Subject: buying Tori stuff online Hi everyone Since I have pretty much given up on finding a store in my area that sales Imports, boots... (feel real lucky and special if you do live near one), anyway could someone tell me of a trustworthy "online store" I could order stuff from, one they have used. Or tell me about one that is real bad so I know not to try it...this might be a good idea for whoever was starting the website with the list of store locations to also include an Online section so nobody will get suckered...please just send your info to mjb3263@cub.uca.edu so as not to clutter up everyone else's mailboxes...thank you thank you thank you **Molly Marguerite** ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 28 Feb 1998 17:25:25 EST From: MM62 Subject: album artwork at the dent! don't know if this qualifies as "news", but on the fabulous web site of mike why, are some pictures from Q magazine that will most likely be the art work for the new album, they just got on there and are really kewl. check it out at: http://www.aye.net/~mikewhy/q0498.html happy tori gazing! =0) ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 28 Feb 1998 17:35:10 -0500 (EST) From: 12KGILBERT@gallua.gallaudet.edu Subject: Tori video boots I was searching the net and found some Tori bootleg videos available at a place called Pirate Video. The address is http://db.piratevideo.com/db/pvideo/viewcat.cfm?cat=CHICK_ROCK or just http://db.piratevideo.com/ for the main site. They have five videos for $19.95 each: CompilAmos, Grace, Putting the Damage on...Tampa!, Crucified, and Me and...New Haven. This message is not to advertise or support this company. It is just to let you know that it's out there. I've never done business with them and don't know how reliable they are. I do know that I have the CompilAmos video and it is of pretty good quality. It has a lot of repetitions of some songs played at various venues, though. Most of it is from US tv, but it also has some from European tv (the color's a little off and the the quality is worse), as well as a copy of the The Big Picture promo video by Y KANT TORI READ. I'm glad to have it as part of my collection, though. On a slightly different topic, when is Tori going to release another video compilation tape? I expected one after Boys for Pele, but haven't seen one yet. The videos that I know of that could be on it are: Past the Mission, Pretty Good Year, God, Cornflake Girl (UK & US versions), Caught a Lite Sneeze, Talula, and Hey Jupiter. Am I missing any? Throw in some live tapings and interviews like on the Little Earthquakes video and there'd be plenty for a full videotape, even longer than the Little Earthquakes one. Oh, and if they add the videos from Tori's new album that would be great, too!
