I discovered Tori about a year ago. I heard about here before that, but I never got to listen to hear music - mainly because none of my friends knew about Tori and I don't pay to much attention to radio. However, one year ago I found Boys for Pele for a very nice price (10 DM, which equals about 5 US-$). It was the original version, without the Professional Widow remix. On my way home, in the train I read the booklet and was very impressed by the lyrcis and the line art in the booklet. When I finally arrived at home I was very curious to actually listen to the music of Tori for the first time. I laid down on my sofa and heard BfP for the first time, from the beginning to the end. It was a very impressive experience, just like my first listening to Dark Side of the Moon or to The Wall (which are some of my favorite Pink Floyd albums) has been. -- Actually, the first reference to Tori I got was in a Pink Floyd mailing-list, about the time when UtP was released. -- Just a few days after I picked up Little Earthquakes and Under the Pink - and the Tori's music has become an essential part of my life since then. Besides listening to Tori - and the music of other people like Paula Cole, John Cale, Lou Reed, David Bowie, the Nits and a lot of others, I prepare for the final part of my exams. - And the good thing about it is, that right after the last day of my exam, Tori will play in Frankfurt / Germany - and I'm looking very forward to attend the show. I can't think of a nicer thing to do just the day after I either passed or failed. :-) Shine on, Sven - -- Sven Luetkemeier ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 23 Feb 1998 10:41:40 +0000 From: Ken Tough Subject: Re: England Dates Beth Winegarner wrote: >Ken wrote: >> I would suggest that you consider the inside-the-UK travel >> situation very carefully before thinking of hitting every gig. >> You will pretty much need access to a car, anyway. Well, I was talking about following the tour. Manchester to Glasgow I'm guessing won't be a great connection, but you'll certainly make it within the day. It's just the times to travel most likely won't be great. (When I say "entire day", I mean 9-to-5.) From experience I can tell you that Newcastle to Plymouth is a 12 hour journey by car (though there's wolverhampton in the middle, but getting from Wolverhampton to Plymouth, I'm willing to bet, would take you the better part of the day, even though I don't honestly know where Wolverhampton is. Sure, you can certainly get around, and the bigger cities are no problem at all. I'm just suggesting that trying to follow all the towns one day to the next, by public transport, could be an interesting challenge. Hell, getting to Heathrow for a 16:00 flight means leaving here at 7:30. Also, you'd want to look into some kind of a coach pass, and be warned that rail might seem quite expensive. For under 24's, you can get a youth rail or coach card, which gives you something like 30% discounts. - -- Ken Tough Cornwall, UK ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 23 Feb 1998 07:01:01 -0600 From: pixy Subject: Re: Putting The Damage On/Other At 11:29 PM 2/22/98 -0500, you wrote: >Who is Angie Dickenson??? angie dickinson is an actress who was on some sort of b-grade telly show in the seventies ( the name of which escapes me ) and various tv movies, etc. maybe a real movie or two too. The Store is called Mushroom (or The Mushroom) and is located on top of a bar "The Boot" across from Tulane university on Broadway. If you are ever in New Orleans you must go there. They had posters, stickers, boots, imports, and although they didn't have one at the time the guy told me they get in videos of her concerts. I spent way too much in there but got some wonderful stuff. They had a YKTR boot for 24.95. I'm listening to Covering 'em right now. This place was wonderful...maybe you are lucky and have easy access to stuff like this but where I live there are no stores that have that much. Hope this information helps someone improve their Tori collection. Molly Marguerite P.s. If anyone knows of a good record store in Memphis Tenn. let me know please...thanks. ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 23 Feb 1998 10:13:02 -0500 (EST) From: Nadyne Mielke Subject: Re: Upcoming Tori Collectibles On Sat, 21 Feb 1998, Mike Gray wrote: > >Amos, Tori Chatback new UK Picture Disc Intervew CD w/96 02/98 > > page booklet....12.99 > OK, I've checked this one out - it *is* available, and was released on the > first Monday of February here in the UK - it's called "Tori Amos - The > Interview Sessions", and is currently not in stock at HMV, Our Price or > Andy's Records (as far as I can tell) but they'll all order it. Erm.. there *is* no book with it, in fact, it doesn't even have a front cover. Instead, it has a frosted-glass effect front case with "Tori Amos" on it (similar to the Pet Shop Boys "Bilingual" case), and the CD itself is a picture disc, with the picture from Spin on it. (You know the one, guys..) - basically, it's a collection of interviews with a little bit of narration at the beginning. It's an unofficial release, and the quality reflects that, but it's probably worth picking up if you have nothing better to do with your money. It's about 40 minutes long. I might get round to doing some Real Audio files from it later.
