IE, I'd want a new experience with the same artist. True, I am assuming that the person has probably heard a Tori song, and assuming that the person does not have Tori's albums because she is not aware of her other songs. I think it is safe to say that most people have heard Cornflake Girl, SATY, and Caught a lite sneeze unless they have been writing term papers or working 16 hours a day, 7 days a week like me. So these would be the immedate songs I would exclude from a sampler if giving it to a person that has probably heard them. Sorry if I implied that mainstream is somehow bad--that was not my meaning as you probably are now aware of.. :) So I picked Winter because of its ultimate beauty and sadness, Space Dog because it will be a new single soon (oh, had to put that in there), and Precious-things because of this list, because it was my first non-mainstream Tori song I heard, and it is a good all-around Tori classic. I agree with the religion thing too. I probably would have picked God or Crucify also. And, he talked to Ashley Blaize, which is always cool: http://www.addict.com/MNOTW/hifi/980221_3335.shtml Tori Amos Plans Spring Club Tour, New Album [INLINE] A band will back Amos on first club run in two years. Amos scheduled to tour for three weeks prior to release of From the Choirgirl Hotel. Addicted To Noise Senior Writer Gil Kaufman reports : Tori Amos' upcoming, fourth album, From the Choirgirl Hotel, will be released May 5 and will be preceded by a three-week club tour set to launch in Miami on April 18, according to Atlantic Records . In addition to being her first extensive club run in two years, it will also be Amos' first excursion with a full backing band, according to the label. "I have always dreamed of my first [Tori Amos] concert being a very intimate setting, like a club," said 18-year-old Ashley Blaize, webmaster of the unofficial Amos site "Tea With the Waitress." "I know that the Chicago show I'm hoping to see will be a drop-dead gorgeous experience," Blaize added. "I am still kind-of scared that my age will affect my seeing her [getting in to the club], but I'll try and find a way." Amos is expected to debut the first single off Choirgirl Hotel, whose title has not yet been released, during an April 10 appearance on the "Late Show with David Letterman," which will be followed by a May 12 gig on "The Tonight Show With Jay Leno." Blaize said she has some apprehension about seeing Amos perform with a band. "I will miss the sentimental feeling of just a voice and a piano," she said. "Drums and guitars are good, but I am scared of the sound they project with Tori. How could anyone accompany such a wonderful artist?"
