I just kept waiting for Ani DiFranco and Beth Orton who both of course performed on the final day. Anyway, I was wondering if anyone was interested in getting a group of EWF together to enjoy this year's festivities. Tickets are scheduled to go on sale near the end of March so we have a few weeks to plan. Tickets are stlg82. I know it seems steep but a portion goes to charity and it is a three day (or longer depending on when you set up camp) event. Ken--I know you said you were going but there have to more interested souls. My thoughts are that you should really start at the beginning (although not with Y Kant Tori Read) - when people have said to me that they'd like to hear more Tori, I've always encouraged them to get Little Earthquakes, and then if they like that, then Pink, then Pele - mostly because to me, it does feel like a natural progression. I think for someone people, Pele is just too *different* to get into straight away, and LE provides a great access point to Tori's world. I just found out this morning that the MTV news bite was wrong, but didn't know if I could go ahead and say that since I didn't have confirmation anywhere. What I CAN say is that someone at Addicted to Noise is working on a story about the album and tour right now, and I'll let you know when THAT story is going up. Meanwhile, I, like Bethey, would be curious to find out how MTV biffed that one. Of course, I have been pursuing Tori's publicist for nearly a month now trying to get information from her for a news piece on the whole thing, but she's been exceedingly difficult to get ahold of (she not only manages Tori, but Sugar Ray, and a few other acts). Part of me would like to think that this MTV writer was having the same problem getting ahold of her, and made something up just to get them to set the story straight. But they would have had to talk to SOMEONE, seeing as they got the 'Choir Girl' part right, at least. Maybe they just misheard it. Maybe whoever they spoke to said it wrong. Who knows... at least the accurate information is out now. I'll keep you posted on ATN. April 10th. April 10th is Good Friday - do you think this has anything to do with the type of song she's playing? :) julie ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 20 Feb 1998 10:06:56 -0800 From: Beth Winegarner Subject: England Dates Ken wrote: > I would suggest that you consider the inside-the-UK travel > situation very carefully before thinking of hitting every gig. > You will pretty much need access to a car, anyway. (It could > take you an entire day to get from one town to the next). Come on, Ken, most places in England are reachable by coach. It's not even a full-day trip from, say, London to the southern reaches of Scotland, and the coach trip from London to Glastonbury is only a couple of hours (an exteremely badly timed couple of hours, but still). It's good to caution people but with a little planning it's not a big deal. However, it takes quite a long time to get from, say, London to Dublin or Dublin to Glasgow/Edinburgh because of the ferry ride + coach ride. I'm halfway entertaining the idea of doing the Glastonbury show, simply 'cause I miss the damn place and want to see my friend there! :) Beth - -- "People always say you should be yourself, like yourself is this definite thing, like a toaster, or something. The first time I ever heard of her was when she was doing MTV unplugged. She just looked so cool sitting in front of her Harpsichord and Piano just playing and singing (and as my friend remarked at the time "screwing the piano bench") For some reason I taped her performance without knowing what the music was like and only knowing that she played harpsichord. I'm so glad I did because ever since that I've loved every song shes sung and have spent most of the little money I have on her CD's and singles etc. I also would like to ask if anyone who's heard OBE by rabbit in the moon (the song which sampled precious things A LOT) thinks it's as haunting and beautifully put together as i think it is. After hearing it once...It scared the heck outta me but the second time through I thought it brought out the sexual side of Tori's wailing or groaning or whatever you wanna call it. If anyone hasn't heard this song and would like to(I reccomend it 100%) then mail me privately and I can send you a RealAudio file of the whole song. It's pretty good quality. Thanx for listening! ~mike ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 20 Feb 1998 19:34:52 EST From: ChinaDust@aol.com Subject: Re: tori and NO dairy? yeah, i have that interview cd. but, she's said this on quite a few interviews, so...you know what i mean. the one i have is, um...it said "mike st. mick" or something...it's one of those cd-shaped books and it has a gorgeous picture cd. ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 20 Feb 1998 19:39:26 EST From: Cindergirl@aol.com Subject: tori tape i want to make this mix tape for my friend who hasn't heard a lot of tori besides the singles, and i want to put about 2 or 3 tori songs on it.
