In order to get a copy of this song "Distent Storm" you must have the ability to hook your VCR up to your stereo. In Issue 1 of the now defunct fanzine "Upside Down", Tom Richards writes an article about hearing Tori sing on the soundtrack of a movie he had seen in Sept. 1992 on HBO. It was credited to the "Tess" name, but he was sure it was Tori. So when he caught up to Tori in January '93, he asked her about it. She didn't know what he was talking about, so he played her the song over the phone. To quote from the article: "Her first reaction to hearing the song was 'Tom, Is that me? It certainly sounds like me.' Tori seemed excited about this...Tori futhered the comment by saying 'if that's not me, somebody is doing a bloody good job of sounding like me...that has to be me.'..." After telling her who wrote the song and that it was copyrighted in '88, Tori remembered and explained how she came to sing this song. "I know those guys from L.A., they called me one day and asked that I come down and record a song for them. I really don't remember too many details about the session, except that I was paid $150 for doing it. Beyond that, I had no idea the song had ever been used for anything until today." OK guys, The movie is "China O'Brian", a female martial arts movie that is available for rent. Tom does not recommend the movie itself, he says: "The movie itself may not warrent repeated viewing, but the song 'Distent Storm' which appears in the first 15 minutes against a silent background, does." Warning--there is a sequel called "China O'Brian II", don't get that one. Yes, I triple posted, but I thought it was important. And since I was nice enough to post this, if anyone does get it on tape, would you let me know so I could obtain a copy? Much thanks to John Ward for lending me these 4 wonderful issues of "Upside Down". More treats in store! :) Fairy Blessings, Bethey - ---------------------------------------------------------------------- I'm OK when everything's not OK cause it's the Fairies Revenge they say and I have always been a Fairy ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 29 Jan 1998 23:50:22 EST From: Adia509@aol.com Subject: Re: silence please This is not about being silent for just one person in the audience-this is about being silent for about the majority of those who comes to see her. If you want to scream like an idiout, go to a stadium rock concert. ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 30 Jan 1998 05:09:20 GMT From: Alicia Subject: Jenn's problem/Respectful Silence Hi, On the subject of parents banning Tori, my father once told me he'd be happier if I didn't listen to Tori so much and so often, because the music is too depressing (he also thinks Bj=F6rk's "J=F2ga" is depressive, I= honestly think it's one of the happiest songs I've heard), and because he'd been hearing my sister (the blasphemous CD scratcher) and my mom complain. So now I wear headphones all day long, and when nobody's home Tori's so loud that I can make out what she's saying even though I'm on the 3rd floor and the radio's on the 1st. I know I won't change their minds, so I have to find ways of doing the things I like without bothering them, and without them bothering me.=20 On the respectful silence thing, I disagree with Tim Madden (timadden@tesser.com (flame him!! flame him!!)) who wrote: <<< I have seen her twice on all three tours, and I swear the audience has gotten a lot younger. For LE I would guess the average was mid 20's (what I was at the time). UtP was about the same, but seemed younger since I was older. BfP I am sure it was closer to 20, and I felt a lot older then most of the crowd. I know that for most concerts it is always younger fans that go, but has her audience changed over the 3 albums? This may also account for how the audience behaves. >>> Maybe you'd like all the ewf's who attend Tori's shows to be your age, to make sure nobody behaves irrespectfully (is that a word?)? I can't think of a way of making my point, since English isn't my first language and I'm an irrespectful 15 year old girl. The people I remember yelling at Tori in the very few live performances I've heard sounded *WAAY* older than me. It's upsetting to suddenly see yourself thrown into a certain category just because you belong to a certain age group, which happens to be the one I've most often heard being put down by -older- people who have no one else to put down. To those of you who couldn't understand my 2am ramblings, I don't think age influences the way people behave, there are rude grown ups and polite teenagers all over the world, I'm sure, so please don't generalize like that. =20 Liking and respecting Tori just as much as you all do, Alicia =20 "I felt a painful stitch throughout my body that I knew stitched my tears to my soul.
