But I don't think it ever meant a lot to me personally until around November. I was walking on eggshells and contorting my ass to be there and to really mean something to this person, and he didn't seem to notice or to care. So finally when I was really fed up by the way he brushed me and my good intentions aside once, I just wanted to tell him "so if I'm wasting all your time this time, maybe you never learned to take..." I just listened to Doughnut Song over and over and it was so cathartic. Wow. Yes, there are some songs I still don't know all the lyrics to and enjoy immensely. The problem is that all of us are trained to analyze words since birth whereas few of us have studied music. Sometimes I just visualize notes when listening. I wish I had more knowledge of music theory though. Still, there is another level of enjoying Tori's music at a parsed sound level. If you listen to the way she uses her voice, you hear all kinds of changes in intensity, whispers, breathing, and vocalizations which are not words. When you put it all together, you come away wondering how anyone can be so talented. A good set of headphones can open up a new world! Hi. I haven't been able to spot the GE soundtrack or the score (but, if I had, I don't think I would have bought it because I hate spending tonns of money on just 2 tori songs) But I'm still dying to hear the new tori music so I was wondering if maybe one of you who as a real audio encoder could please send me a real audio file of 'Siren' in its entirety and maybe 'Finn(intro)' too? I would appreciate it very, very much. Please e-mail me personally. Just seeing the word "pet" made me think of Perry Farrell and Janes Addiction/Porno for Pyros. It would be great fun to see Tori do a cover of any of their songs . . . Three Days, Orgasm, Then She Did, e.g . . . she's such a damn sensuous woman that she would bring the haunting styles of the deeper meanings of the songs out beautifully. Hmmmm. I smile to think of it. becca ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 17 Jan 1998 14:06:11 -0500 From: Roger Branstetter Subject: Pet promo taken Hi again EWF's The promo is taken so please don't email me about it. I am fairly new to this list so I don't know if this question has been brought up before. But I was just thinking to myself, "It would be so awesome if Tori did a trio with Sarah McLachlan and Bjork." I think that that would be something interesting to hear. Would be cool if Tori did a duet with Ani too. When Ani was on "Modern Rock Live" a caller asked her if she would ever do a duet with Tori. Ani's response was something like, "yeah, I am always open to doing work with other artists." But then she said something like, "....but I don't know, she's into faeries." It was something to that extent. I hope I didn't "F" it up.(If anyone has the whole quote post it. It would be great if u can.) Well my question is(sorry I tend to babble): Who would u like to see Tori do some duets/trios/etc. with? I am just curious.I would love to see what people have to say. Anyways, I'll shut up now. As far as I know, the *only* YKTR video was for The Big Picture. This is interesting. In September someone else posted on this list that she had seen more than one video from YKTR, and we determined that she had also seen the clip from the video of China O'Brien, and thought it was a video. Tori recorded vocals for a track which was used in a martial arts film made in 1988 called China O'Brien. She did not write the song (which was titled Distant Storm), and to get the song one must access it only from a videotape release of the film, as it was never released on a soundtrack album or anything.
