"Siren" is extremely beautiful, the way the piano flows throughout the song, and the way Tori uses her voice in it, which is different from her previous recordings. There are some familiarities in some parts in the song, she did some vocal- type stuff she was doing towards the later part of the Dew Drop Inn Tour. Especially the part: "...to guide you through the Southern lands, go said, go, yes..." ("Father Lucifer" live: "go, said, go, yes, run away turn away..." i got chills when i heard that part. And i don't understand why they chose to only print Some of the lyrics. I do think Tori's annunciation has gone to some quite weird place, but that's ok, i do love it... I just hope we can understand her lyrics on the new album... Oh, and did you guys notice that she plays piano And harpsichord in the song... so she's still working with that sexy babe :) Hopefully there'll be some harpsichord on the new album. You must try on many different personas before deciding which "fits" you. You will be going through many changes in your self during this extremely difficult time. God, when I think back...ok, I tried on the, damn, what did we call it?, "preppy" thing for a few weeks, then slowly evolved and that's the word, your personality is *evolving* right now! I gradually went more and more hardcore. I didn't come to school one day with a mohawk, that took several years of slow evolution. But I always knew I wasn't one of "them" in school, because even in elememtary school, I was the one who was picked on for being different. Now? Well, now I'm 28, I'm a software developer but really I'm a *rider*. I always rode and showed horses. I only work to support that habit. I've now come to realize that what you wear on the outside really doesn't have much to do with the inside--but in HS/college it was very important for me to show who I was and how I felt on the outside. I'm still a tomboy, I'll never be comfy in a dress or skirt, but Tori has helped me explore that side of myself and say, "yes, it is there, and it's not a bad thing..." So I'm just a T-shirt and jeans type of girl. But I'm still me--no matter what I wear or who I listen to. God, I hated it when I was deep into hardcore and some would say, "you listen to ....???", as if you can't be open minded and listen to what ever you want!!!! I'd get so angry with them and yell that to me this was all about open-mindedness, so I'm openminded about MUSIC too! (As Hanna would say, these guys were the posers!) So, have fun on your journey and you'll love who emerges, and yes, we do still (hopefully!) continue to evolve as each day goes by. My dad can now talk about homosexuality without a blink, whereas before when the subject was broached, he'd crawl into a hole---I think it was some of my friends that I brought home that made him realize "People are people" which are truely meant!!!! It doesn't look like a copy or anything of that sort because it's signed by Bob Masse and has number 246 at the bottom. The thing I noticed recently is that it has May 13, Madison Square Garden,New York written on it. I looked up the date for this concert and it says that she played at the Paramount Theater on that day. The only other Madison Square Garden cocnert i believe she did was the concert for RAINN. I just hope we can understand her lyrics on > the new album... I think her work on the soundtrack is all highly stylized for it, and the weirdo pronunciation is part of that. There's a commonality in her vocal approach to both Siren and the wordless vocalizations on the other two songs. And I must say, it's interesting how Patrick Doyle used the whistling, and other vocalists--notably Kiri Te Kanawa--to evoke similarly ethereal sounds with different flavors. The score is clearly a work of strong vision. I'm sure Tori loved working with that guy. He's brilliant. Sparks must have been flying between them with all the ideas going back and forth. And I found Tori's wordless vocalizations to be magical and wonderful. How incredibly expressive she can be, even under those circumstances! We'll see if this kind of vocal thing really was a one-shot deal when the album comes out. But I have never before noticed any true hippies at TORI concerts -- lots of psuedo ones, yes, but not the real deal -- so they stood out in the crowd. They quietly, almost timidly, sidled up to Tori and stood next to her as she was nearing the end of the line of fans, and when Tori turned and saw them, she squealed with delight and was saying, "You made it! I didn't know you were coming! Well, come on, *you* come in here with me," and dragged them into the theatre with her, telling Joel they were with her. They came again the following day and, this time around, already had backstage passes and walked right into the stage door. I'd be willing to bet....
