I write for several publications, including Addicted to Noise and the San Francisco Chronicle... that's the 'Chronicle' I meant in my previous post. Also, Richard asked me to mention the cookies. Susan Swan, Tori's publicist for Atlantic, kept having to reschedule our interview. Tori started the day on Fox's Morning After Breakfast (which she said she got up at 5am to do), then had a lunch for which she was late, then had to go back to Swan's office where a news crew was waiting for her. So my interview was delayed a couple of times through the day and Susan said "you've been so great. Do you like cookies?" And I said yes, I did, so she said she'd have some sent to me. The next morning, 9am, my doorbell rings. It's a FedEx guy with a huge box from a Los Angeles bakery, which turns out to be packed with a basket of cookies! They were nummy. I had only a few though. My dad ended up eating most of them. :-/ Anyway. Enough of that. Beth :) - -- "Watching storms start to form Over America -- can't do anything Just watch them swing with the wind Out to sea." I strongly recommend this talented artists to any Toriphile. Her debut album is called Silence. It is wonderful, though a bit over-produced....her true talent comes out in a live setting. I'm glad to see the whole "flub-up" topic here, because I've been meaning to write something about that for a really long time.... I have various Tori projects in the works right now, and one of them is a section on the RDT(RN) site that will contain misheard lyrics, i.e., mondegreens (a journalist who frequently writes columns on the subject originated the term "mondegreen" -- I'll explain why when I eventually get the site up and running). Anyway, if you would like to have your Tori mondegreen(s) included on the site, please send me three things: your misheard lyric, the *actual* lyric, and the title of the song it's from. Feel free to submit as many as you like. It should be VERY amusing. I have about a thousand, myself. ;) I'll promise to let you all know when they're up and post the URL. Happy New Year! I almost never notice details of physical characteristics or jewelry. > (Richard is the know-all guru on Tori, as far as I'm concerned.) (My goodness.) You're very nice, Jennifer, but let's try to keep some perspective. I will claim to know just about as much as anyone about some things pertaining to Tori, but honestly, there are plenty of areas pertaining to her about which lots of folks know much more, and some, believe it or not, about which I know nothing or next to nothing. I really know next to nothing about a lot of the fairy/Celtic stuff--certainly compared to quite a number of people on the list who've been into that stuff for many years. I have a familiarity with one hell of a lot of different kinds of music which relate to Tori's music, and have a technical background in making and taking care of sound recordings, and I think those two things help set me apart from most of the folks here, but I'm not being falsely modest when I say that I have much to learn, and that many others know much of what I don't. I definitely don't want to foster the notion that I know everything, and I *certainly* don't want to seem like I'm a know-it-all type of person! From time to time I go for extended periods without posting and the questions people ask generally get answered pretty well. Another thing I have going for me that you can't see is that I do some freelance research from time to time, and know how to find information with relative ease, and whenever I'm online I have the entire archives of RDT and RDT(RN), hundreds of articles, Precious Things and Torinews postings, etc., at my fingertips, and can turn up something someone posted on RDT in 1992 within a matter of minutes, which makes it seem like I knew the posting or its information already off the top of my head. God, I love UNIX. :-) Being able to find information is nearly as good as already knowing it. No one can tell from reading something I post whether I knew the answer off the top of my head, or simply knew how to find out quickly, and knew nothing about the topic before I set about researching it from scratch. Poking around trying to find answers to questions you guys ask helps me learn more all the time, so I'm grateful for that. Did I mention that I love UNIX? You're very sweet, Jennifer, but you're makin' me nervous, so cut that stuff out, okay? :-) Be seeing you, Richard Handal, H.G. ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 2 Jan 1998 16:21:06 EST From: Tasha325 Subject: all apollogies. i know that we have moved past the subject -- please don't get mad at me again for speaking my mind this time... i just have a few things to say in regards to all those i may have offended in my feelings regarding the FTE list. i'm really sorry. i tried to be lighthearted and do not feel that i put down the people on the list. i got a couple of replys defending the individuals on the fte list and saying how they were so kindhearted and such. i did not say and did not mean to imply anything different. i just meant to say that the things they talked about did not involve me in any way and that i was dissappointed that there was not more sarah info. there was massive e-mail regarding them meeting in vancouver, seattle and other places. i just got a bit burnt out on that.
