MM62 . . . What you said about the arrangments of Tori's pieces is totally what I've been thinking! I have the "Little Earthquakes" and "Bee Sides" piano books, and although some of the pieces sound nearly accurate when played, it seems like some are completely off base. I do remember reading in an interview that she said that since several of her songs have been unconcious flows of song or single-takes, she often has to go back and write down the lyrics and music so she can remember them later. But who knows? I guess it's just part of the mystique that is Tori! "maybe I'm a witch, lost in time . . ." (hah!) Well, ok. Mikewhy was nice enough to post my URLs for me (believe me, he's got easier access to them than I do). But you ask something terribly subjective -- what was it like to be one of the last folks to interview Tori before she went into hiding? She was SO tired that evening, I don't even know if she'll remember me when I get to talk to her again (and yes, I'm pretty sure there will be a when). She was a bit out of it, really, and my first impression after the interview was "that didn't go very well, did it?" because I kept asking her questions and she wasn't up to her usual par. But when I went back through, as you'll see if you read the interview, it actually went really well. I think my favorite bits were discussing her work with BT for "Blue Skies," where she talked about the process of going into the studio and singing, and then hearing the finished product. She also had a lot of great things to say about her fans, and what it means to her that she's inspired other people. I'm hoping to be able to interview her in a couple of months in anticipation of her new album. Probably something for the Chronicle this time. Even though the interview would be shorter, I think I'd like to do it for a publication with a wider audience. She's got such a way with interviews. Did that answer everything? I hope so.
