How this relates to PW mystifies me, although if you >are correct it would definitely bring new meaning to the word >starfucker... ;) Yes, it's called the "opening of the mouth ceremony", and there's quite a few refs on that in any Egyptian literature. I looked through some yesterday and was surprised not to see a mention of the "orgasmic bent" to the re-animation that was believed to follow the opening of the mouth. That part I saw at one point in some TV documentary. I think it was one linking the pyramid positions and Nile's path to the stars in Orion's belt and the milky-way (evidence for which is pretty thin on the ground). They were explaining the importance of the shafts pointing exactly at the stars. - -- Ken Tough "Jesus died for somebody's sins, but not mine." ken@objectech.co.uk Cornwall, United Kingdom -- Patti Smith ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 20 Nov 1997 07:17:35 -0500 From: Steve Ito Subject: MusiquePlus/Sarah Slean Richard H. posted: >Trina asked: >> Flipping through the channels the other day I caught a Tori concert on >> a French music station, Musimax, called "Tori Amos Under the Pink in >> Montreal" >[...] >> Is there a video? > >Not for sale, but it runs sometimes up in Canada, apparently. Right you are, Richard. Originally shown on the French Canadian channel MusiquePlus, it has since been aired once or twice on the Anglo Canadian channel MuchMusic. I wouldn't be surprised if it comes up again in a Big Ticket sometime, watch for it. >There was an amazing review of the broadcast on the Really Deep Thoughts >mailing list back on December 18, 1994, which I have included below. [*incredibly* long review deleted] I was pretty verbose back then huh? :-) I was really excited though because to the best of my knowledge it was the first time the majority of a Tori concert was aired on television. - --------------------------------- While I'm posting, I'd like to plug a local independent singer-songwriter who rocks my world. Anyone who likes Tori should check out Toronto's unbelievable Sarah Slean. Those here on the ecto list will have already heard me and a few others rave about Sarah. One ectophile posted that Sarah was like Tori without Tori's "over-the-top" quality, in other words like Tori's mellower side. Another commented that listening to Sarah's ep was like discovering a bunch of cool new Tori demos or b-sides. Both agreed that however similar to Tori she is, Sarah is a terrific artist in her own right. Myself, the first few Sarah shows I caught left me with the compelling feeling that this was what Tori's first shows in England must have been like, before the release of Little Earthquakes. Certainly Sarah possesses an exciting, undefinable quality that makes you certain that her future is just about to take to the sky. I've set up a web page for Sarah and fellow Toronto artist Emm Gryner, the URL is below. I urge you all to check it out, there are sound bites online. Let me know what you think! Steve, you requested that no one e-mail you with requests for copies of the MusiquePlus tape. But you tantalize us with wonderful comments. I must have it! There must be a way. Maybe you could take the tape to a place to have it done just once, and send that to someone with the equipment who'd be more than willing to make us all copies for a fee or for a trade. You can't tease us like this!!!
