Make no mistake, we REALLY DO all listen to music differently I think.... Big time ;) !!! Well, last year, Tori told an anecdote on the radio show Just Passin' Thru (station WHFS in Maryland, taped February 2, first aired February 11) about having been told "We're already playing *one* woman." I expect that Sarah came along at the right moment to have that other "one woman" be Tori, and I don't doubt for a moment that it happened to both of them. I was just informed by my server the the mailing list is too large for them to handle. I need to find another host. Can anybody recommend or suggest something? I don't want the mailing list to die, and I don't have tons of money. I have been running the list manually, and would prefer to continue to do so. If it comes to using one of those majordomo things, I guess I could. I don't know much about them though. I would appreciate any suggestions. Thanks! :) Your mom listens to Tori?!?! How cool! :) The lyric sheet says: if you don't like me just a little why do you hang around there she goes again wearing those purple panties there she goes again wearing her heart there she goes again why do you take it *natasha ******************************************************* Xians & republicans & nazis, oh my! - Big Gay Al, South Park Why waste time learning, when ignorance is instantaneous? - Hobbes, Calvin's sidekick ******************************************************* ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 15 Nov 1997 18:26:32 +0200 From: Buz Clark and Frans Chamberlain Subject: interpretation Hi, Just some passing thoughts on the interpretations of Tori's lyrics. I'm not sure that so much weight should be placed on the interpretation of her lyrics. Her brilliance as a songwriter lies in her ability to create the most beautiful poetry from music and lyrics. This does not mean her lyrics should always have a specific meaning to be dwelled upon. Perhaps her lyrics are the expression of a subconscious, like word-dreams or stream-of-consciousness. Her lyrics have beauty and meaning to be found within themselves, simply within their expression, perhaps not what they might possibly mean. Very much like poetics. Poetics, within writing, architecture, art, is a very sensual thing. Their strength is not what can be interpreted from them, but rather their expression. The meaning of much art, visual and musical, simply lies within itself. It refers to nothing but itself. It is a world in and of itself. Its power is not found in what it means, but what it is. "Transparence is the highest, most liberating value in art - and in criticism - today. Transparence means experiencing the luminousness of the thing in itself, of things being what they are." "The function of criticism should be to show how it is what it is, even that it is what it is, rather than to show what it means." I don't know a lot of info on Sword and Stone, but hey, it could have something to do with it. It makes that sound... you know. :) She knocks on the part above the keys, i forget what that part is called.... Anyway... there you go. Also, there's a wonderful Irish war drum in the song that's so lovely :) - -j'ason ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 15 Nov 1997 17:24:36 -0500 From: kel11@scasd.k12.pa.us (Kim) Subject: D.Snelders This message wouldn't send to your address, so I"m sending it here..
