This brings up something of interest to me. I've recently been seeing all these Winter and God singles in large retail chain record stores, and that seems most unusual to me. I'm not in touch with what the usual practice is for such items by artists at Tori's level of popularity, but I don't really recall seeing singles from albums which are multiple years old sitting in record store bins very often. Anyone working in record stores--what's up with that? Are there singles still being made and sold from albums as old as three and five years ago? How often? That seems very strange to me. Thanks. So yeah, Maura's nice, but you might want to check around before you order from them. All I know about singles is what a guy in a record store told me when I was trying to order some of the more obscure ones. He said that the US versions had been taken out of "print" but she wanted more people to get them legally (thus cheaper) that had missed them before so she re-marketed some of the older ones. I don't know how much merit that has, but it makes sense to me. And you call yourself a Tori-fan? ;) The first question, for me, is: what exactly does "out of print" mean? I keep hearing that the LE video is "out of print", but I can walk into nearly any music/video store in my area and find a couple on the shelf. In addition, just because something is out of print doesn't mean that it will suddenly become hard to come by or worth anything special {special being dollar value, not special as in the music on it, you know what I mean :P }. Even if the US CfG single goes "out of print", there were still xxxx printed, and they're not too difficult to come by. I'd been under the impression that the US Winter "limited edition" had been out of print for several years, but I'd be willing to bet that I could go out and purchase at least 20 in the next hour without any difficulty whatsoever {unless there's suddenly been a huge run in Atlanta on this disc ;) }. /nad *************************************************************************** * Nadyne Mielke, CS majour, Southern Tech, Marietta, GA * * * * "I regret to say that we of the FBI are powerless to act in cases of * * oral-genital intimacy, unless it has in some way obstructed interstate * * commerce. First of all by "Out Of Print" is supposed to mean that the CD is no longer being pressed (mass produced). This doesn't mean that you can't find them in stores it just means that new ones won't be made anymore. With most record companies and singles they are pressed in mass quantities, and have a shelf life of 6 months. That usually means that after 6 months the store is required to pull all the copies off of their shelves and send them back to the company to be destroyed/hidden/lost whatever record companies do... This is so people will buy the albums instead of the singles. With Tori, most stores aren't required to pull her old singles... Because Atlantic doesn't fear a drop in record sales due to single purchasing, which makes sense if you look at the singles Tori has in America.... Plus Atlantic picks very few songs to turn into singles of it's artists. Look at Tori for example, Atlantic up until BFP only released three singles and one EP... Pretty lame if you ask me... Atlantic also presses their singles in extreme quantities... Winter may be limited for Atlantic but that doesn't mean that only one hundred, or even one million were necessarily run off. East West the European branch of Atlantic is very limited with their limited editions and non limited discs becasue they do put out lots of singles of artists like Tori. So when something is called "Out Of Print" in Europe or by East West technically it is harder to find, especially in US stores. The thing with EPs is, like Jason said, they should not go "Out Of Print" like the singles or be limited edition. One day, yes, they will stop printing the Crucify and Hey Jupiter EPs but it will be a long time before that happens... I can't think of anything else to say about this, except I'm not always right!! If you know something please enlighten us. I am always interested in knowing where I have been misinformed.
