This summer I've been working at a hospital in London, serving patient's meals and stuff..nothing really exciting. Anyway, there are 2 buildings for this hospital, the North and South, they're about 5 minutes away from each other, and I usually work in the South building (bear with me for a moment - - there IS a point to this rambling :) Anyway, a couple of weeks ago, on September 16th I think, they made me work in the other building for some reason, then when I went back to my usual building a couple of days later, I was chatting to one of my co-workers, and guess what he told me? That none other than Ms. Amos herself had been admitted to the hospital and he had been serving her meals! But don't worry, it wasn't anyting too serious - apparently she was having her wisdom teeth removed. I was soooo disappointed when I heard this - I'm probably one of the few people that work in the hospital that have even HEARD of Tori, let alone like her music and I wasn't working when she was there. So I was asking my colleague all these questions like 'did you talk to her?', 'did she seem okay?' and stuff like that....to tell you the truth I think he was getting a bit annoyed with me because I was like in a state of shock all day long and I kept going on about it :) I can't believe I didn't get a chance to see her - and she was staying on the 4th floor too, which is where I usually work. The only info I was able to get out of this guy was that she was only in for the day, she didn't stay over night, and apparently she was having her teeth removed (I'm not 100 percent sure about that, cos you're not really meant to ask patients what's wrong with them, but that's what he said). She had a friend wtih her the whole time, an American woman, and she ate mashed potatoes for lunch! I was kind of interested in what she ate, because I know that if you're a day patient and you've just had an operation they only give you a limited selection of food and it's all pretty bland - and knowing how much Tori likes food I wondered what she would think about that... it seems like she liked the potatoes though :) Apparently, one of the the top managers came around and said 'ok guys, we've got a really important patient in Room 402, so be really nice to her...blah blah blah.' I think they've had quite a few famous people stay there in the past - Michael jackson and movie stars...oh, and it was the hospital where Princess Di's father died a couple of years ago. So, that's about all I know, I'm afraid. I'm soooo gutted that I wasn't working that day - if I had been I would have just HAD to go and say hi to her. I would have prolly asked her when her next album was coming out and stuff like that. But anyway, I hope this little story has been of interest to you :) See ya, Nina ------------------------------ End of precious-things-digest V2 #273 *************************************
