"They leap onstage to the dulcet whimpers of Tori Amos' version of 'Smells Like Teen Spirit' blared out over the PA. They are laughing their heads off. A girl in a nice dress singing their scruffy revolution classic. Dave (Grohl) calles it "an abomination". He doesn't know which is funnier, the Weird Al Jankovic pisstake of 'Teen Spirit', or Tori Amos' serious version". Seems Nirvana weren't all agreed on it then. "Dew Drop Inn Boulder", a 2 CD boot of the last show {with highlights from the previous night}, is quite good, IMHO. There is a new 2 CD boot out called "RAINN Benefit" that contains the - -whole- RAINN show {not just what was broadcast on the radio, or what was broadcast on Lifetime Television}. I haven't heard it yet, but if it's comparable to my cassette boot of the whole thing, it should be pretty good. /nad *************************************************************************** * Nadyne Mielke, CS majour, Southern Tech, Marietta, GA * * * * "I regret to say that we of the FBI are powerless to act in cases of * * oral-genital intimacy, unless it has in some way obstructed interstate * * commerce. Hi.=20 I=B4m just wondering about some things posted earlier .... >> IT WAS RUMORED THAT TORI WAS PREGNANT AND THAT THE FATHER >> WAS THE LEAD SINGER OF TOOL Interesting. So, was that a rumour? Has anybody else heard/seen something? It would be a little difficult to undertake another tour while being pregnant. >> In reality, she did her recording in a special underwater studio >> off the coast of Duck, NC. More interesting. Maybe I am late on things, but didn=B4t she want to take 2 years off? And now she is recording a new album. And it will come out in May 1997 and the tour will start in March 1997. Whe will she rest? How long will she be able to race along like this? >> She required that everyone who set foot in her studio be nude, Well, after finding inspiration in Pele and her fire, she now turns to the underwater world. Interesting. I really wonder, though, why it is neccessary for recording an album to take the clothes off? Does clothing make unwanted noises? Are the underwater vibes scared off by dressed people? On the other hand, if this is true, we will surely get to hear a perfect explanation for it. >> and there are several pictures of her recording this way on >> a very reputable website. So reputable, that nobody knows about it. Is this going to be the same chase like after the faked nude photos? Why is anybody so interested in seeing her naked? Isn=B4t she allowed to have a private life? She gives us music (and more) from time to time, but she has a right to her privacy. I wonder if it would be better to confirm certain news, before making a rumour out of it. Okay, taking the inconsistencies of certain news and postings, I will shut up now and wait for her new album .... ~Fonty. :) P.S. I expect that one day Tori will be inducted. It will take a while for her to create a large enough body of work for consideration, though. Just an aside: My sometimes friend Ian's father, Dennis Barrie, was the director of the Hall of Fame at its opening and for 4 months afterward. Ian worked on some of the exhibits, including the NIN exhibit. Met Trent, who came to okay the exhibit, and said Trent was very cool and interested in what he had to say. I read somewhere that Tori is working with James Brown on her next album. He's co-producing a few tracks. He's been modifying her CFG dance into umm...something "with more soul", to quote Brown. She's been learning how to do splits and at the end of the dance, Caton comes out with a robe, but Tori shakes it off. ;) - -Karen, who hopes people know this is a joke. :) ------------------------------ End of precious-things-digest V2 #239 *************************************
