Does anyone have a boot of this? Any info would be appreciated (and I'd LOVE to trade). :) Rebecca ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 23 Jul 1997 20:20:24 -0700 From: "Mickey Sun" Subject: Re: question >what is a uin number? I don't know what the acronym stands for, but users of the ICQ program are issued an unique UIN number upon registration. ICQ is a real time hybrid chat/email/messaging client. It's analogous to a cellular phone with a pager built in. Let's say that you and I both have ICQ installed on our computers. I can enter your UIN number (or email) into the program, I will then have the capability of sending you messages or, if we're logged onto the internet simultaneously, engage in real time chat over the internet. It's a pretty spiffy program, but it *really* got on my nerves after a week of usage. Last time I checked, they only have the program availible for the windows platform... sorry mac users :( I have recently read about an alternative to ICQ called ichat. I think that this is actually worth looking into because I hear that mirabilis is going to start charging for ICQ usage soon. you can download ICQ at: http://www.mirabilis.com/ you can download ichat at: http://www.ichat.com/ Have fun with the Tori ICQ group :) >I don't like marshmallows.
