(i'm making an audio of it if anybody wants to trade)... anyway.. so, i have never heard this before so i thought i would share. tori was riding on a train in england to a recording studio. she had 7 hours to write and record the song because the guy recording it had someone "more important" to record after tori's 7 hours were up. she was to record this song for a b-side of a single, "becasue you know that's how it works over there". she was eating egg salad and drinking tea. tori had some trolls in her pocket and she got them out. she didn't know what to write, so she starts to sing "these are my trolls..., but you can't write a song like that". so she starts to say how she is a terrible song writter. she gets to the studio with still nothing down on paper. the guys are ready to press the record button and tori tells them to hold on for a few minutes while she messes around. the guy recording the song has worked with her before, atleast for 7 months, and he still doesn't know how many sugar's tori gets in her tea. "five, i get five sugar's in my tea, and he doesn't remember this after seven months". anyway, she said that freddy mercury sang the song to her and that she still doesn't know if she should be giving his estate publishing rights or not. "this was the best gift anyone could have given me", tori said. and there you have it. the story of "sugar". - -rusty ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 17 Jul 1997 11:08:02 +0200 From: richard68@globalxs.nl Subject: two cd's for trading Hi everybody, I got these two cd-singles here that I don't use, because I have them twice. They are Silent all these years, from the RAINN concert (album version/live version) & Caught a lite sneeze (Caught a lite sneeze / London girls / That's what I like Mick (The sandwich song) / Samurai). It's the regular one in a jewel case. If anyone is interested in trading these for something else (I'm looking for some singles myself), then please mail me privately. Bye, Richard richard68@globalxs.nl ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 17 Jul 1997 10:51:23 -0400 From: Charlie Nopper Subject: Cartoon Network Presents #2: Space Ghost Coast to Coast Hello all, First I'd like to say that I have enjoyed being apart of this list for some time (even though this is my first post). I finally feel like I have something to contribute and so I'd like to mention a comic book which was distributed to stores yesterday called 'Cartoon Network Presents #2' from DC comics. The only reason I picked up #2 in the first place is that issue #1 featured 'Dexter's Laboratory' which I find very entertaining. Anyway, this book features 'Space Ghost Coast to Coast' which for those who don't get Cartoon Network is a cartoon parody of late night talk shows. Two fifteen minute 'episodes' make up an hour of the show. Space Ghost is the host and three of his 'arch enemies' are forced to work for him on the show. Guests on the show come from all segments of entertainment, just like a real talk show, but this show tends to poke fun at the talk show industry and itself and at times is quite funny. Well, I buy the book just to see what they do with the characters, open to the first page, and 'lo! and behold!' the first page has Space Ghost saying '....my next gues is a GIRL and a SINGER. A friendly welcome to TORI AMOS!' Of course, because of the bumbling of the show's workers, she's never actually depicted in the book, but eventually they locate her 'transmission' and a voice supposed to be her says 'Hello, is anybody there? It's Tori Amos.' The villain acting as producer breaks in and says 'I just found Tori. ALANIS MORRISETTE was jamming her signal, but everything's okay now.' Eventually, they move on without ever putting her on the show, but I laughed anyway and marveled at how Tori can show up in so many aspects of my life. Like I said, the book was distributed the 16th to comic book stores and costs $1.75 if anyone's interested. If anyone craves more rambling from me (on any subject), send me an e-mail. --CN (cnopper@eng.utoledo.edu) ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 17 Jul 1997 17:02:33 PDT From: "Philip Parr" Subject: 2 Polls Having recently sold some items, I've had the oppertunity to "meet" a few of you over the past week or so. I'm on a few mailing lists, but from what I've "seen" this group seems to have a large percentage of friendly and passionate people out there. I only know one other person where I live who is as into Tori as I am, and I don't see her too often. Actually talking to other fans got me to thinking about how I became interested in Tori, and got me wondering just who you people are too. So how's about a poll (this means you too lurkers)? Poll # 1. What is THE ONE Tori song (okay - you can have a tie) that did it for you; that made you say 'I've gotta go out and get everything I can by this person?' Poll #2. What do you do? Student? Studying what? Working? Doing what? Okay, I'll go first. #1. The song that does it for me is Precious Things. For the life of me I can't explain why. Maybe it goes too deep for words. The version I am most touched by is that from the LE video. Watching her play with such intensity just knd of makes me feel that way too. #2. I pay the bills (usually) by being a supervisor at Kinko's. I've always wanted to be in the printing business and Kinko's is where I've ended up. It's a fun job most of the time and I get to deal with a lot of different people. I also play the keyboard and am writing a comic book (who hasn't read Sandman yet) that I hope to self publish someday (anybody know any artists?). That's it for me. If you want, you can respond to this personally, but I think it'd be fun to see everybody's answers on the list. Now it's your turn. My best friend bought LE and sat me down and made me listen to it. I don't know if I can say "the whole album", so if I have to pick, it's going to be "Tear in Your Hand"/"Silent All These Years". > Poll #2. What do you do? Student? Studying what? Working? What is THE ONE Tori song (okay - you can have a tie) that >did it for you; that made you say 'I've gotta go out and >get everything I can by this person?' Well, the first song that I heard from Tori was "Cornflake Girl". One of my dear friends (the same dear friend who introduced me to Sarah McLachlan) sent me a tape with just one song on it ... "Cornflake Girl". Attached was a short note -- by Tori Amos. Think you will dig it -- and boy did I dig it. The next day I went out and bought 'UtP' and 'LE'. I later bought 'BfP' the day it came out, of course. Despite being introduced to Tori via "Cornflake Girl", my two absolute faves would have to be "Pretty Good Year" and "Putting the Damage On". No matter how many time I hear the songs, I'm *always* emotionally moved ... for a lot of reasons. >Poll #2. What do you do? Student? Studying what? Working?
