It's on EastWest, and has CALS, Graveyard (which I had thought previously to be only on the cassette version of the single in Europe), and Toodles Mr. Jim. It doesn't come in the standard jewel box like the normal UK single did, but rather in a cardboard sleeve, rather like the Professional Widow single. The artwork is pretty much identical to the normal single but underneath the track listing it says "Plays the same both sides", an odd thing to put on a CD don't you think? (it's on the cassette single, naturally). Do I have a rarity on my hands here? The shop had quite a few of them, some of them with 'cut-outs' but some without. Strange little item. Any ideas? Paul. PS Non-Tori Content: If anyone knows of a Radiohead mailing list, can you please email me & tell me? I don't have web access atm :( Cheers! =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- "A pig in cage on antibiotics" Paul.Tweedy@durham.ac.uk grendel@cus.umist.ac.uk =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= http://www.dur.ac.uk/~d550du http://toristuff.home.ml.org ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 03 Jul 1997 18:13:49 -0400 From: the woj of noise Subject: [none] Received: from iac6.navix.net by jane.smoe.org (SMI-8.6/SMI-SVR4) id QAA22272; Thu, 3 Jul 1997 16:09:00 -0400 Received: from default (xyp196p6.navix.net [204.214.134.37]) by iac6.navix.net (8.8.5/8.8.5) with SMTP id PAA28432; Thu, 3 Jul 1997 15:07:49 -0500 Message-ID: <33BC060B.6F5C@navix.net> Date: Thu, 03 Jul 1997 15:05:31 -0500 From: Douglas Hitzel Reply-To: hitzel@navix.net X-Mailer: Mozilla 3.01 (Win95; I) MIME-Version: 1.0 To: precious-things@smoe.org Subject: UPSIDE DOWN Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit content-length: 941 Does anyone know where I can get the bootleg 2 CD set Upside Down? If I want someone to do me the favor of taking my money for an nth generation copy, there are any number of takers all over the place. And if you have the gall to sell them, at least mention generation/quality. > VIDEO'S > 1. " Little Earthquakes" $10.00 Copyrighted Official Release, which, though rumored to be out of print, is still readily available in stores and mail order for $12-$15. > 2. " Oakland 7-12-95" $20.00 (you provide vhs tape) Bzzzzt. She didn't do any concerts in 95, but someone who actually cared about what they had would realize that... And the $20 is for a 90 minute rental of your video equipment and doesn't even include a $2 tape? > 3. " New York January 23, 1997" $20.00 > 4. " Concert for Rain" $20.00 Hmmmm. If you actually _watch_ these, they might be awfully similar... And it wasn't farmers in need of precipitation that this concert was a benefit for. It's RAINN, not that you'd have any idea what it represents or Tori's involvement in it. > 5. " Ultimate t.v. compliation" $25.00 One might ask for a detailed listing but it'd probably be 75% or better wrong... Of course, as it is a compilation Jay Leno does start to look like David Letterman after 10 or so generations. > These video's can be recorded in both Video and audio format > for audio $10.00 So your audio equipment is cheaper to rent time on than your video equipment? A good analog cassette deck will run you about as much as a respectable HIFI VHS recorder. What's that? Oh, it's an $80 Teac dual-well deck you are recording to. That explains the price difference. > CD's > 1. "Somewhere over the rainbow" 1 cd $20. > 2. "Unplugged and unreleased" 1 cd $20. > 3. "Tori Stories" 4 cd's $20. per CD or individually > > These can be recorded on both audio and CD format. > 10.00 per audio tape > the Cd form will be in about a month if anyone can wait. Ahhhhhh! So that's why you're helping people out! To buy yourself a CD-R. How nice of you. Selling the use of equipment before it's bought to finance it's purchase. Notice you don't mention anything about trades... Guess you aren't interested in "helping" anybody that way - there's no money in it. All you'd get is enjoyment from watching/listening. But that presupposes that you give a damn about the contents of the tapes you are selling. Of course, as you are selling these tapes, you'd probably find traders hard to come by anyway as many (especially those who tape themselves) seriously resent anyone turning a buck on their efforts, much less those of an artist they respect. I know you'll never wind up with a tape directly through me. Katharine - if you're in it for the money, fine. Don't try fooling yourself (or anyone else) into believing you are "helping" someone. If it wasn't for your opening sentence I probably would have just deleted your message and moved on. Everyone else - ask around (nicely) on tori-boot or r.m.t-a. There's plenty of people willing to actually *help* people out - in trade, for blank and return postage, or at the very worst, 2 blanks and return postage (though the motives of the latter are a bit shady as well). Hell, I've made numerous copies of concerts I've taped gratis as gifts for those who I met at the concert. A smile and look of surprise is worth far more than a $10 check. At the *very, very* least, if you are going to pay money for boots, find someone who knows what RAINN is and might own a legitimate Tori recording or two... bob ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 3 Jul 1997 23:45:01 -0400 (EDT) From: RedShift17@aol.com Subject: Widow mix on Boys for Pele I recently saw a version of BfP with Professional Widow listed ah one of the mixed versions, not the orginal track, it was selling for 20$.. Since that has been so long ago, I have no way of tracing down those people, and though I think most got tapes (and I don't have theirs, they were either destroyed in the attack or stolen or something) it's real hard to get to everyone. This is NOT saying I'm going to haul ass to get tapes out to everyone. However, since I can't get around to everyone who really deserved these, and it's been so long, I thought I'd make this offer. I've got five bootlegs, listed below, plus one video. I'm sick of the high cost of Tori stuff.. so here's what I'll do.. free. You ask, you get. You don't provide a tape, you don't provide a VHS cassette, etc. You probably will have to wait, and I don't want to get flooded. Some of these are on DAT, which is good; and one is on CDR. Some are cruddy audio tapes, though. Anyway, if people can be very patient, I'll try to get these around; we'll call it a recovery :) Thanks. The list is below. The Orpheum - 8/11/94, New Orleans, LA fair recording, special moments: space dog, sugar, angie Madison Civic Center - Madison, WI 10/4/94 (i'm not sure about the MM/DD or DD/MM) Good news: it has the entire P. Stuart opening act. Quality is mediocre Count Basie Theater - Redbank, NJ, 10/11/92, fair recording; contains mother, take to the sky, assholes are cheap today flying dutchman. my only LE boot Live In Minneapolis 7/14/94 Good recording, landslide, cloud on my tongue Tori Amos: Live at Lawerence, KS - DAT I can't get the cover on this one, and it's screwing up playing.. used to be my best recording; I'm going to get it respooled. Has She's Leaving Home. Excellent, excellent quality (when it plays) Tori Amos: Rare Red local bootleg, fair in quality; it's all the really rare stuff, baltimore, purple rain, etc.. CDR One video: St. Denis, Montreal, CA/Much Music 1-29-96, MTV 120 Minutes 6-19-94, Tonight Show 2-96 ------------------------------ End of precious-things-digest V2 #179 *************************************
