I'm going there next weekend and it would be nice toget myself a great souvenir in the form of a Tori or Ani CD. I am responding to David Salazar's remarking about Tori fans being likely to crush one another while rushing the stage. I met Tori at a remarkable show in San Antonio last October. Everyone was peaceful. Everyone was nice. Everyone was decent. In fact, my old roommate lost her earring after hugging Tori, and everyone was on the floor looking for the damn thing. (including agent orange and the other tori guards and people) when tori came out, no one was pushing, we all politely moved out of the way so other people could talk to her. not trying to generalize all tori fans as "peaceful, decent" people either. just wanted to disagree with the notion that toriphiles are a bunch of brutes. i do, however, agree with the idea that we should all "lighten up." i think there are better causes to become angry about than excessive e-mails. i think the majority of us have good intentions with this list. if we prate on and on about what defines it and what should and shouldn't belong, it will definitely alienate people, and i'm not interested on being part of that. - -anita from houston ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 30 Jun 1997 19:47:30 -0300 From: Laura Subject: Girl Hi everyone! I found this interpretation to GIRL at the Interactive T.A. lyrics solving quest site:=20 >"Girl is about maybe a friend or relative of Tori's the refrain "she's been >everybody else's girl, maybe one day she'll be her own" is saying this 'girl' >has almost no time for herself and is busy with other people's problems that >she can't solve." It's kind of different of my interpretation of it, but is also applicable... who will ever have the true meaning of a Tori song anyway...=20 I think Tori IS the GIRL in the song, and she is looking at her life from a few steps away. She is keeping distance from things so to have a different angle or view, to see things clearer. That's why she addresses to herself as "She" instead of "I". "She's been everybody else's girl, maybe one day she'll be her own". She's been pleasing everybody but her ... since she was sitting on the piano bench at the Peabody being told what to do, to when she was guided into something she didn't believe in.=20 She realized there should be a change in her life to "solve" some problems. So it was time to leave some things behind and start over again on her own (as she did when she wrote LE after the YKTR experience...) well that's my theory... I bet you must be thinking " If GIRL gave her trouble to understand it... what did she do when she red the lyrics to BFP?= " :) well I had my head spinning for months... that's the most accurate way of saying it :) oh and BFP made me use my dictionary like a thousand times... to don't even find some of the words... there are computer dictionaries, accounting dictionaries.... what about a Tori dictionary? anyone related to an editor? some of us (the spanish speaking EWF) would find it really useful= :)=20 Anyway, I still have trouble figuring some words from Girl... would somebody out there enlighten me? :) I'll wait until I'm on holidays to ask for help on BFP ;p ........smother in our hearts *a pillow to my dots*" ?? besos laura ps. the address to the site is http://www.dra.nl/~titalisq in case you'd like to go check it or send your interpretations. _________________________________________________________________ When the spanish conquerors came, they had a bible and the native=20 american had land. I don't know if this has been mentioned by the state or just by this writer, but it seems one of the songs affected (banned) is SATY. Ummm, ooookay. This is supposedly cuz SATY is about Tori's rape, and that just wouldn't be right now would it. Except: 1. I tend to believe MaaG is what was intended. 2. None of the people that would be offended by this can decipher Tori's lyrics in the first place. ah well, have fun all of you in Texas... ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 30 Jun 1997 20:23:03 -0400 From: the woj of noise Subject: Tori Amos event in Aachen >Date: Mon, 30 Jun 1997 14:52:26 +0000 >From: Martin Wolters >Subject: Tori Amos event in Aachen > >Hi, > >after the first european hommage to Tori Amos in Aachen/Germany where >local artists did perform Tori's songs which were webcasted on the >internet too I'm fullfilled with different feelings. > >On one hand I think the concert was a great success.
