And I have to admit: SHE IS GOOD. I enjoyed the show very much, she is a great singer and guitarplayer. She is witty and sometimes shy. She forgot her lines during the first song (rap really) and was like : ooops.... i don't know... concentrate concentrate .... It broke the ice. Everbody was laughing and I immediately liked her. She was telling little stories between the songs, about riding through Holland and Amsterdam with the tour bus, trying to keep out of the canals. She asked hoe we were doing, communicated with the public. Someone gave her little wooden shoes, oh there just my size she said, and later she used them to drum on her guitar. One of the strings of her guitar broke, but she kept on playing until it started to sound false. She smiled a bit sheepishly and then played on just two of the strings and sang an octave higher to keep it in tune. They (Ani and her drummer Andy) were als jamming a bit half way through the show. They sang bits of songs from the Beegees (Staying Alive), James Brown and others. Then someone in the audience mentioned When doves cry. She said ok and told the Andy and the base player (not Sara) that they were gonna play a request. Then she started singing it. It was great, everybody sang along (I guess it was the only song that everybody knew). She played about an hour and a half and it ended much to soon. I didn't buy an album right away but I am going to as soon as I can spare the money. I want to buy the Living in Clip album, it's getting good reviews and gives me an overview of her whole career. It will also have the sound I got to know last night, studio albums always sound different. I absolutely don't regret going. I was able to meet a dutch fan before the concert who reacted to my message on this list (thanks Roger!), but I would also have gone alone. Thanks to everybody who reacted to my questions on Ani. I know we were debating on this a while back, but I don't think anyone ever really offered a theory, if we did agree on something, I apologize for bringing up an old topic, but here's my take on it. I've sent a post here once about having one of those *awesome* Tori experiences where every nerve and piece of being seemed to be crying out to Her. As Dave nicely pointed out, Tori *does* know how much we adore Her. OK, this is where the EWF comes from. Tori understands how Her music can affect us and just flow through our entire existence (well, maybe some of us anyway!) and so She calls us Ears With Feet because while listening, our whole body is transformed into one giant ear. How's that one? (At least it's creative!) By the way, on a non-Tori note, you may have noticed that I always end my e-mails with "Peace, Love, and the Goddess" etc. Well, every time that's on there, I've typed it in manually. Can anyone tell me how to make it so I can just *put* it there? It would be much appreciated! Just remember, I don't know a whole lot about computers so don't just tell me to "put it in the signature block file." (What the computer help desk up here told me). Thanks in advance! She has a good voice and her music is great. But it can be hard to find. It is released from and independant record label so you have to go to music stores you might not normally go to. Like for instance people at MusicLand and DiscJokey looked at me like I was insane when I asked about Ani Defranco. But..oh well.
