Does anyone know about this? When Tori moved out to LA {and subsequently recorded Y Kan't Tori Read}, she did a couple of odd jobs. One of those odd jobs was a television advert for Kellogg's Just Right cereal. She beat out Sarah Jessica Parker for the advert -> according to the biography _All These Years_, Tori played piano better than Ms. Parker can fake it. There is a "Cornflake Girl" box available as well. It's a promo item for CfG, and pretty rare. You can see a picture of it in the _Tori Amos Collectibles_ book that has recently been released. Both _All These Years_ and _Tori Amos Collectibles_ should be pretty easy to come by, in your local bookstore. I found the Collectibles book in Tower {for 30% off, then the cashier made a mistake and took an additional 30% off . . . :) }. I believe that the cover price on ATY is $20, and the cover price of the Collectibles book is $29.95. If anyone needs ISDN numbers, I'll post 'em when I get home. /nad *************************************************************************** * Nadyne Mielke, CS majour, Southern Tech, Marietta, GA * * * * "I regret to say that we of the FBI are powerless to act in cases of * * oral-genital intimacy, unless it has in some way obstructed interstate * * commerce. CG was not released in the US as a single until almost 4 or 5 months later. i have heard from friends in canada that both videos were shown to promot the single there. it's just marketing... not to mention that i'm sure tori jumped at the idea to make another video.. the second CG video was partly directed by tori herself. - -rusty you can reach RUSTY at: agentorange2@juno.com or rusty@poe.org see my links page on the web & sign the guestbook! ~ http://www.geocities.com/SunsetStrip/Palms/5226/ Check out Abra Moore. Cornflake girls are victims, cornflake mothers have bought into the belief system and visit this upon their daughters. Raisin girls are untouched, by the knife and by the system. I will clear things up for all of you who aren't sure about things : 1) Tori did a commercial for Kellogg's Just Right Cereal in the mid-1980's to help pay her rent. She had to cut her hair short for the commercial. 2) As a promotional thing for the "Cornflake Girl" single, Atlantic Records bought a bunch of boxes of Cornflakes cereal and put Tori's face on them. However, due to copyright things with the Kellogg's company, the boxes were never used widely. But a few can still be bought in weird places in Goldmine magazine. 3) The terms "cornflake girl" and "raisin girl" are old Southern things people said like forever ago. Tori is very in touch with her southern roots. A cornflake girl is someone who is really stuck up and snooty, narrow minded, etc. Raisin girls are very open, down to earth, overall nice girls, like Tori. Tori never was a Cornflake Girl. And she thought that was a good solution :) I hope that clears a few things up.... - -weirdyboy@aol.com ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 29 May 1997 23:46:15 -0500 (CDT) From: Kerry White Subject: Re: Raisins and cornflakes Hi, On Thu, 29 May 1997, Dream Shelf wrote: > i disagree. then that would mean that Tori herself is untouched by the > system... there's more to the song than any literal correlation to > Possessing the Secret... so cornflake girls aren't necessarily going to > be missing their genitals, know what i mean? It seemed to me that those asking weren't connecting the physicality of the book as the seed of the ideas. Yes,Tori is not untouched by the system but "..hangin' with the raisin girls" seems a step removed from *being* a raisin girl. Self-centeredness of the cornflake girls could be a defense mechanisim: the system really did a number on them so why expand towards others who could be part of that system. (OR: the system *ate them whole* and they are now good little system-elements.) Or not!
