She was nominated for the best alternative performance award. I believe the segment from Tori was from 120 minutes (?? maybe )? Anyway, I hope Tori wins. Also, if you hold up the BfP booklet to the light, Tori's face shines through the window. It almost looks like it was meant to be that way. The one page has her face looking up and out and then when seen held up to the light she is looking up and out through the window (which also resembles the box, by the way). Nope, I don't have a lot of time on my hands, I just happened to notice this one day when I couldn't find my glasses and was holding the booklet at an angle. :) hope ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 24 Feb 1997 00:18:58 -0500 (EST) From: Richard Handal Subject: Tori N.C. interview from August Hi, All: I was thrilled to be able to find this online! I had been lucky enough to have learned of this article on Tori's birthday when I was in Greensboro for the concert that night, and went to the offices of the paper and got some back issues. I gave one to her dad that night, along with some Charlotte ink I'd gotten when I was there for that show the *previous* night. :-) Stay tuned for that one. This is quite long, but it's a good article. It was a phone interview done two weeks previous to the concert in Greensboro, which was on her birthday on August 22, 1996. The fellow who wrote it is a big fan. I ended up talking to a girl who is a friend of his in a local bakery/coffee shop that afternoon, and she's the one who told me about this article. Yes, it *does* pay to carry around a clear plastic portfolio under one's arm with a Tori Amos tour program showing through the back. ;-) She speaks in this article of having personal ghosts in North Carolina. In Greensboro, on the night of her birthday, she spoke heart-wrenchingly of the loss of her Poppa (grandfather Copeland) before playing the song about him, Frog On My Toe. I wonder if he's the only ghost she feels down there. What a deeply personal show that was. I am truly blessed to have been there for that one. Last week I sent this in to RDT and carboned Michael Whitehead, and now that he's got it up on his site I'm just sending out the URL for it there to Precious Things and ToriNews. Go to: http://www.aye.net/~mikewhy/greensboro.html If you have trouble accessing it through the web let me know, and I'll email it to you. Patrick, I gave you a photocopy of this the night *I* got it, so you can ignore this. ;-) There you go. Enjoy. Be seeing you, Richard Handal, H.G. ------------------------------ End of precious-things-digest V2 #53 ************************************
