So now the album is 78 minutes long and includes 19 tracks. I think that people who are only into dance music and buy the album thinking that its all gonna be "Honey bring it close to my lips" style are in for the biggest surprise of their lives. Oh, and they've reduced the price from stlg16 to stlg13, which is (considering that most of you people live in the US) approx. $19 (?). I just read the MTV review of the RAINN concert, and of course,, while this may not be MTV's view of Tori, it certainly is negative. One thing I really don't like is constantly branding Tori as "wierd"- I thought that MTV tried to cater to unconformists.... it also classified Tori as New Age, which is not true at all, and compared her to YAnni- hello!? Yanni plays a synthisizer, and I find his music passionless. Another think is... why is tori always smirked at as having only teenage girls for fans???? I have found that Tori has a large following of men in their 20s 30s and older, as well as a similar age range for women. I find it somewhat hard to believe that a thirteen year old girl is the typical tori fan, why... they probably wouldn't understand most of her music!!! At least Matt, of 120 minutes is a tori fan and sympathizer.... and she has Bjork, Sarah and the MTV darling Jewel backing her mission. Its just that the coorperate blockhead that is MTV often (especially when it deals with Tori) pisses me off!!!!! Send your comments via a form available on >ABC TV's website at: http://www.abc.com/vvoice/talk.html The world is such an interesting place because of different opinions. Why does it bother you that some actor calls Tori annoying? Do you think there's some truth to it? If not - why not? Try to think before you react. On a few (rare) occasions I've found myself in the position of being a bit annoyed by Tori, especially during the live recordings of 1996. The real feeling behind her music is sometimes replaced by a manierism [not sure of this term BTW] which I find particularly disturbing. Not everyone is a ToriFan. That's good. There are as much different opinions as there are people. Try to find some explanations for what you feel. People can only hurt you if they know your weak spots. In order not to get hurt you must make your weak spots strong. IMHO, of course. I only saw one of the performances (the Letterman one), and to me it didn't seem like calming down. It seemed a lot more like something I've been suspecting for a while - tori's wearing herself out again. Take a look at picture of her two years ago, compare them to now - she looks a *lot* more than two years older, two years more tired. there's this quote at the edge of my mind about a flame burning more brightly because its time is cut short, that i can't quite pull out at the moment. But I think Tori's been burning too brightly and she's getting a little sapped on energy again. yes, she can take care of herself, and i'm vicariously kinda glad she's deciding to do it this way, so we can share in the really bright parts (she was *quite* sparkly and bouncy and her usual self at the concert in Boston in September, yay)... anyway, that's what I think is going on. Hopefully she'll get some rest and recover. ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 31 Jan 1997 15:00:18 -0500 From: Katherine Ewald Subject: Help! Hi everyone! It comes with the Hey Jupiter/Professional Widow single that was released in the UK. The tracks are: 1. Hey Jupiter (The Dakota Version) 6:03 2. Professional Widow (Armands Star Trunk Funkin mix - radio edit) 3:45 3. Sugar (live) 5:43 4. Honey (live) 4:19 It also comes with a picture of Tori and a nifty little book of pictures of her too. Melissa ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 31 Jan 1997 23:15:49 -0500 From: "john, mr. saint" Subject: Horses.... Okay, I've been pondering... BfP is the boys album, so what is horses about? I think it's about her fans. We, the fans, are like her army, so the demons can't get her if we stay perfectly still. If we stay perfectly still, then she can talk to us. However, the part I really think is about us is "off with superfly, sniffing a sharpie pen, honey it's Bill and Ben." We use sharpie pens when she autographs stuff. Also, Tori knows some of us by name, so it's like she's saying "hey, here are my buddies who are holding sharpie pens." I think that this has to do with her love for her fans. She loves us, but maybe she feels that she is taking too much from us, stealing our fire (however, she is really helping us find our fire, but she may not realize it). Then the next stanza "...counting your bees, oh me honey like one, two three, the camera is rolling it's easy like one... two... three..." THe snapshots that we take of her, she can fake so easily. She can appear happy, when inside she is hurting. However she does it becuase it's easy, like one, two three. Then she sings "and if there is a way to find you I will find you, but will you find me if Neil makes me a tree..." Tori wants to find us and help us find ourselves and she will find the true us. Tori will love us no matter if she has to search. However, she is concerned that we won't be able to love her, becuase she'll be disguised as a tree. "threads that are golden don't break easily," signifies that if our connections with her are golden, a color that many times represents purity, then they can't be broken. Overall I feel that she thinks she is neglecting us or something, and is worried that she won't be seen as the real her. However, she knows that we will always love her.Just my oppion. It's not like she'll lose fans because of Roseanne. You people need to take a laxitive or some Valium or some crack or something and relax. It's called free time, and some of us seem to have WAY too much. Mr. Zebra >> I think this is ok, the whole Rosanne thing. I mean, NOT to be an elitist , but it's like, not everyone is going to "get" Tori's music, and that is okay, it's good in a way. And Tori doesn't let this get to her, she probably laughed at in even. I have an interview that is so, funny. This guys asks her what she thinks of the British journalists calling her a 24 carrot fruit loop. Her response- well, at least it's 24 carrot! . So, it's okay everyone. Tori knows that half the population isn't going to "get" her, but she is being true to herself and that is what really counts. ~*~Erin~*~ ------------------------------ End of precious-things-digest V2 #30 ************************************
