Hi all, I have a quick question...on someone's page somewhere I have seen a picture called tattoo.jpg of just Tori's arm supposedly with a tattoo on it that is some kind of band that wraps around...and I think I have seen one other shot that actually shows Tori's face in the picture with it...anyhow...It obviously was fake cause I haven't seen in on her arm in any of her recent television performances. So I was wondering if there is a story behind it? Did people think it was real at first? Hey all-- Before I ask this question, I want you all to know I feel like I'm blaspheming the Goddess. I really hope I'm wrong, but I'd like to know what you all think: does it seem to anyone else like Tori is perhaps starting to... I dunno, kinda calm down? Her last two talk show performances, on Rosie and on Letterman, she did almost the exact same thing. Sure it was the same song, but even the way she sang it was similar. I'm hoping that this is just her trying to put up a good image with all the attention that was just given to RAINN, but I'm worried that her performances might turn into a nice, neat little package o'Tori. I'm Toriphile #1 at my school (Western Washington University) and have even started a fan club for her up here, I've never disliked any of her work but last night on Letterman... I was sorely disappointed. Someone, please tell me I'm just imagining things or I'm going through a phase. My mind is absolutely distraught over this! Hey everybody, Tori is up for Record of the Year in TV Guide's "The World Series of Rock." Be sure to go to http://www.tvguide.com/music/features/worlds/signin.htm and vote for her!! Katherine ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 30 Jan 1997 16:10:59 -0500 (EST) From: Delirium Subject: Sacreledge: Defending Tori I think that the repeated singing of Silent has to do with RAINN. When RAINN was first founded she sang Me And A Gun several times.... now with the Unlock the Silence campaign SATY seems to be the song, also since the title of the campaign was taken from that song. She also has just rereleased SATY for radio, so its no wonder that she is playing it frequently, just as she played Caught A lite sneeze many times during the begining of Dew Drop Inn on TV. Remember that the people in the Letterman audience, or Rosie or anything else on TV are not necessarily Toriphiles like us.... in fact, it seems to me that her TV performances are always quite a bit more "calm" then her shows. Don't lose faith... she is singing SATY to promote a great orginization, Toriphiles all ready know and (hopefully) support RAINN... right now she is need of getting RAINN's message to people outside her circle of fans. Even with our support it was in danger of going bankrupt... and now Calvin lein and Tori are saving it. Kristina Also- I have a hunch that things like the black RAINN shirt and red choker may be available at CK stores later on in the caimpaign.... a new item is going to be featured each month with donations to RAINN... > Tori is perhaps starting to... Hey all you fellow Toriphiles! I'm new to this list, and just thought I'd share some of my thoughts. Basically, I couldn't agree more about the rendition of SATY on Letterman last night. It was just beautiful. It was a shame that she had to shorten it, but it really was great. The little "Tori hiding behind the piano" thing was cute though. And who was the lucky bastard that got to go up on stage and meet Tori??? (bastard meant in the nicest possible way, of course) I was envious. And to think, I could have been there yesterday... I just decided I had too much work to do and I would just watch it on tv. Also, did anyone else catch Tori on the Fox morning show this morning? (I think it's called After Breakfast, or something like that.) I just happened to turn on the tv this morning (which I never do) just in time to hear them announce that Tori would be joining them. I thought it was really cool. They gave her a good interview, and then she got to hang out, drink iced coffee, and mingle with the other guests (Suzanne Somers and Jonathon Silverman). Then right before she left, one of the hosts gave her a grand tour of the apartment, which was really neat. He showed her the ballroom and asked her if she could see herself giving a little concert there. She said she would actually rather play in the bathroom, so off they strolled into the bathroom where she suggested that the host could sing along in the shower. (Apparently, he had been made to take a shower earlier in the show by Suzanne Somers.) Oh, during the interview, they talked a little bit about the internet, which was interesting. Anyway, if anyone else caught this, I'd be interested to know what you thought. I really liked the whole informal aspect of it. Also, I was at the RAINN benefit last Thursday, and would be interested in any comments. Sorry if I'm beating a few dead horses. :) silverfish "There's always a green door, and green gets you out." --Tanya Donnelly ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 30 Jan 1997 17:01:51 -0500 (EST) From: Drewkt@aol.com Subject: Re: Red Key Choker!!! (paraphrased of course) and Tori said no, that she doesn't because she feels that to do so would be invading her fans' privacy in a way. She said that that is their forum for discussing her, her work, and probably a whole lot of topics that don't even involve her, and that they should be able to do so without her checking up on it. I was discussing with a friend the discussion we are having here about Cornflake Girl. So, there are two explanations for the song.. one is the "girl gang" theory. But how does this tie in with the Alice Walker explanation? I figured it was that the Cornflake Girls are so bent on tradition that they would go as far as to get their daughter's genatalia removed. This is simply a characteristic of the Cornflake Girl "gang" correct? Also I was wondering, would the Cornflake Girl theme have anything remotely to do with the Kellogg's ad she made back in the early days? Or maybe this is blatantly obvious and I am well.. being silly. Any thoughts?
