It's not a flame. It's just concern for Tori. Like most of you, I am one of those who is dying to see another Tori show, but don't you all think that Tori DESERVES a break. She's just finished a 180+ show tour, and she's only had a month of rest. Granted, Tori did not have to be hospitalized for the Dew Drop Inn tour (like she did for the UtP tour), but it is physically taxing to have to perform day in and day out for six months straight. I've asked her once, "How was your day today?" and her answer was somewhat frightening. She had to get up at 5am for a radio interview, from then on she does not get ANY sleep until after greeting all of her listeners after the show (which is in the wee hours of morning). If my math is right, Tori gets only 3 or 4 hours of sleep during these days. Although this might go against the belief of some, Tori's human just like you and me, she's not a goddess. Humans need sleep and rest. Tori deserves to get sleep and rest. If Tori ever decides to join the Lilith Tour, that's great because I really miss seeing her live. But, I'd be even more happier if she decides to take a year off and just relax and enjoy life. Hey, there is always the tour after her new album is released in a couple of years. Mickey PS Wow, this is like my fifth irrelevant post in two days. Amazing what a person can do when he is freed from the constraints of school work. It's me again, the Flying Dutchman. I've (again) got some questions I'd love to get the answers to: 1) Who are the musicians (apart from Tori, or should I say Myra Ellen) playing on 'Baltimore', 'Walking with you' and 'Happy Days' 2) How do Caton and Matt Sorum feel about their Y Kant Tori Read past? 3) Could anybody give me some more info about a open-air concert Tori did in Germany a few years back, wherere she was so hindered by the noisy crowd that she allegedly played a 20 minute version of 'Smells like Teen Spirit'? (Is it available on a boot somewhere, for then I'd sure love to hear that one!!!) Ok, and then one more thing: Apart from Tori, I also listen to Sisters of Mercy quite a lot. For about a year now I've been telling everybody I know that I think Tori could do a magnificent cover of the Sisters' song "1959". I know that Tori and Andrew Eldritch (singer of Sisters) met at least once (a friend of mine has a picture of the two of them), so there is already some sort of a connection between them. Let me know if you agree with me, and maybe then we could send Tori a letter begging her to consider covering the song. But, regarding the post you made about Tori needing her rest and all that, well, don't you think Tori is able to decide for *herself* what she's capable of undertaking as opposed to what she isn't? I can understand your concern for her health and all, but she isn't exactly a child star who's being exploited by her manager, you know? She's an adult who I'm sure knows what's good for her and would perform at the Fair only if she feels up to it, regardless of fans' (however well intentioned) opinions. neshah ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 18 Dec 1996 10:30:51 -0500 (EST) From: Delirium Subject: Re: Lilith Fair & Tori I agree- touring is demanding for Tori, as many saw in Miami, she gets sick from being so tired. Hi all, I think the main thing that upsets Tori about bootlegs in the fact that her fans might be getting ripped off. To quote the All These Years biography, "Unhappy about her fans spending money on poor quality recordings , Tori felt better when Robert Plant advised her that 'You ain't nothing until you're bootlegged'" I buy all the Tori singles I can find.. but I also buy the imports and bootlegs. I tried to get an interview with Tori once by going through Atlantic Records.. I ended up starting too late to get anywhere, but Atlantic did say that I could take pictures and record at the concert..if the theater allowed it. They said they would send me a pass to bring equipment into the theater. Umm while I did get a spiffy press pack.. no passes were included. I don't know if Atlantic was just bullshitting me.. or they really checked out all the possibilities. I would assume they were just bullshitting..OH well. Oh.. I also have access to to interviews that this teacher at my school did. He did one a long time ago..when Tori first started out. And one during DDI tour. I can probably get a hold of them when I get back to school in January. Yeah.. If anyone would like to trade..of just wants copies of these when I get them.. let me know.. !! I just think that her (or anybody) would get sick of resting after a while. Keep in mind that the Lilith Fair doesn't resume until the summer, giving her about six or seven more months of break. If she is not there it will not be the end of my world. I just simply think it would be something different and something that she would enjoy. It is not a huge World Tour, it only lasts eight weeks and that doesn't mean she would play the entire tour either. It seems like a lot of artists will be rotating on and off.
