I just realised, while I was listening to "The Pool", that it has very Sapphic lyrical undertones. (One, with her hands open, etc) And while we're talking of that, for the longest time I thought of "Caught A Lite Sneeze" as being about Tori fed up with her male relationships and wnodering what women had to offer, and there's also that matter of the line in "Cornflake Girl". What are your thoughts, o listmembers? - --Chelsea ------------------------------ From: Traumachik@aol.com Date: Wed, 20 Nov 1996 20:07:28 -0500 Subject: Another thought Is the song "Numbness" any relation to "The Pool"? This was a song she did at the beginning of some LE-era shows, and has a similar melody and lyrics to "The Pool". ------------------------------ From: Jon Haverman Date: Wed, 20 Nov 1996 20:27:40 -0500 (EST) Subject: my questioned answered! >From: mfgr@bart.nl (Marcel F G Rijs) what Jon asked, >>Subject: Re: lets try here >> I saw double 12" >>plain white cover single for sale for about 75 UK >>pounds. Marcel F G Rijs thanks for your info, and response. I am responding publicly because you have assisted others a lot over the years. I remember that Tori once did a overdub once, but never knew the title or artist, and this must be what it was. I was in London this past July, and still have access to this release. One of my cousins will pick it up for me, and I will request it ASAP. You know, its one of those I need to have everything -selfish-items. I once found the Precious Things promo cd for a $1, so I guess turn around is fair play, and must fork out the $110+ for a few lines. ------------------------------ From: "Layton, Laszlo" Date: Wed, 20 Nov 96 18:18:00 PST Subject: For LA Toriadores Local (Los Angeles) radio station KROQ just announced its line-up for this year's 7th Annual Almost Acoustic Christmas Concert series. Tori Amos is headlining Friday, December 13th opening night all-female lineup. Appearing with Tori will be Sheryl Crow; Natalie Merchant; Tracy Bonham; The Cardigans; Garbage; Jewel; Poe; and a couple of others I forgot. Date and time of ticket sales has not yet been announced. Thanks, katherine ------------------------------ From: Traumachik@aol.com Date: Wed, 20 Nov 1996 23:18:58 -0500 Subject: Re: Numbness I don't know the lyrics, but it's at the beginning of the "Winter" bootleg from the Colorado (?) broadcast of a LE-era live show. There was a remark in _Take_To_The_Sky_ (I think) that if anyone knew the source of this cryptic song, they would win a free lifetime sub to the zine. Also, I just got a promo of the Joni Mitchell _Hits_ and _Misses_ CDs and was amazed that her version of "A Case of You" was on the _Misses_ disc. With all of the live performances Tori has done of it, I would imagine that would elevate it to the _Hits_ disc. It also got some airplay in these here parts. Thoughts, anyone? As far as the LA show, I am utterly disappointed with the lineup, for one sole reason - JOOL. She is by far the most vile and loathesome musician gracing the earth, and is by no means worthy of licking Tori's shoes, never mind sharing a stage with her. She should just be eliminated, and all the Jool fans out there should listen to Syd Straw, because Syd has TALENT. Sorry to go on like this off-topic, but I just needed to air my feelings on these pressing matters. ------------------------------ From: Ewald Katherine Date: Wed, 20 Nov 1996 23:25:41 EST Subject: Numbness again Does anyone have the "Winter" bootleg in which this Numbness song is on?
