I'm sure there are a few bootlegs out there, but I can't help you there. I gave up the search after a found a copy in a rather hack used CD store for about $150. I'd love to have a copy of the CD, but considering my current financial status, not **THAT** much. :) Good luck. branen ------------------------------ From: Kristina L Goetz Date: Fri, 1 Nov 1996 14:08:19 -0500 (EST) Subject: re: YKTR YKTR for $150??? If it was priced more than a normal CD ($10-$15) and less than close to what it commonly sells for ($100+), you have a bootleg. Quite simply, any store owner who know enough to price an authentic copy at more than retail knows what an original is worth and will charge accordingly. If you found it in the cutout bin for $3, you might have an original. If you found it in a longbox (remember those...) you have an original. If you bought it for the going rate ($100+), you might have an original - I certainly hope than anyone willing to part with that kind of money has taken the time to familiarize themselves with the SEVERAL different boots of YKTR. There are some obvious bootlegs (like the one you mentioned with "bonus tracks"), but there are some that are passable as the real album. The artwork isn't quite up to snuff when compared to the original, the text is a little fuzzy inside, and, most obviously, the catalog number will be wrong - an original will be 81845-2 while the most authentic looking boot has 81845-1, which was the catalog number of the vinyl release. All that said, I hope you really do have an authentic copy, but if the store still has more copies of them don't count on it. As an aside, I've personally yet to see a non-cut out vinyl, though I do know of someone who has one. I wonder just how many sold originally - as non-cutouts. They've got to be 4-5x as scarce. back to lurking, bob ------------------------------ From: "Lucy M Carey" Date: Sat, 2 Nov 1996 00:40:29 -0500 (EST) Subject: YKTR I just got YKTR last week for $25. Hmm i have a cd that says "Made In Germany" so i guess that rules out it being the original american version at least? but i notice the number on it is 756781845.2 I don't know what that means, unless it means its the authentic german release? Anyone? It was 26 bucks, by the way... liter Josh Sutterfield Musician/DJ-Wannabe/Student/Legume Jester Shot Fluid MaLjaMiN joshu@umr.edu http://www.umr.edu/~joshu "Hi." -- Gomer Pyle ------------------------------ End of precious-things-digest V1 #217 *************************************
