The cover has her holding > a sword and she is dressed in leather, this caused some to say it was > "Heavy Metal". Idiots! Actually, Tori herself calls it a "heavy metal band". She also says they really sounded much different than on the album. By the time the recorded the band was pretty much broken up and the album got pushed more towards a "glam-rock" kind of sound. The drummer later went on to Guns-and-Roses and the guitarist is still playing with Tori on tour! -Greg ("he writes letters...") ------------------------------ From: Greg Burrell Date: Tue, 28 May 96 02:19:32 -0700 Subject: Re: Baltimore sessions Hi Everybody, > I think you're talking about the single "Baltimore", which was released > thanks to a Chamber of Commerce contest she won to write a song for the > Orioles baseball team. She recorded three songs in the session... Actually, Tori recorded two songs in that session. The "Tori Stories" bootleg set lists: Baltimore Sessions ---------------------- 1. Baltimore 2. Walking With You 3. A Happy Day "Walking With You" was the B-side to the "Baltimore" single. "A Happy Day" is really titled "Its A Happy Day" and was recorded two years earlier when Tori was fifteen. She was hired by the songwriter to arrange and perform the song as a demo. The "Tori Stories" bootleg set claims to contain a concert from 3/29/94 at the Palladium but the show was actually on 4/29/94. Also, the concert listed as "Roxy Theater 3/15/92" is probably really Boulder, Colorado 3/29/92. Bootleggers don't always take time to get things right. -Greg ("he writes letters...") ------------------------------ From: Greg Burrell Date: Tue, 28 May 96 02:43:18 -0700 Subject: Re: Tori in BigO; Faye Wong question Hello, > On an unrelated note--a question. Well, Nicholas posted a response on RDT on Sunday, and gave me some other title, (presumably, from what you say here, from the original release rather than from a compilation album), and I managed to find a record store which was able to order a copy from Japan for me, as it seemed to still be in the catalog. Thanks, Nicholas! > The cover is in English so the CD is easy to identify. > Its not exactly "Silent All These Years", Faye used the > same music but with different lyrics... Yes, I had heard that. The lyrics are printed in English on this version you have, then? > ...and a different > title - "Cold War". I misunderstood this completely! So I'll clarify here that when Greg says the "cover" is in English, he means the cover of the CD, NOT the cover of the song. The song (as it says on Greg's page) is sung in Cantonese. It took me a few minutes before I figured out why I wasn't understanding it as English, let me tell ya. :) It's pretty cool, though. I'm pretty sure it's not LE because they have LE also, for $19.95, and it's a different catalog number. And it's not a bootleg video as Angie suggested, because it's a WEA/Atlantic release, not to mention Cdnow doesn't sell bootlegs anymore.
