Thanks - -Lisa ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 10 Nov 2002 00:05:06 -0500 (EST) From: Richard Handal Subject: Tori tour Melbourne report Hi, All: Just spoke with Michael on the phone. He said tonight's concert in Melbourne was equal to the enjoyment level and a bit livelier than Tampa. Tori had claimed at the meet and greet that they were gonna tone it down at the concerts in comparison to the first night's outing, but if she meant that to refer to length it was not by much, as this concert was a mere four minutes shorter than last night's coming in at two hours and nineteen minutes, and remaining a lengthy twenty-seven songs. At this point I have to say it's clearly the plan to play about half an hour longer than the "normal" concert we've come to expect--and I think we can also toss "normal" out of our vocabularies during this tour. Michael cleared up something he was unable to check his notes about when I spoke with him after the Tampa concert. He said that during *both* Hotel and Mission Tori had played all three keyboards, indicating those as the only songs played so far on this tour in which she does that. In some ways, I feel like its 1992 all over again. But, I find Virginia to be the most incredible, enchanting, Tori song ever. At this point, it would be the song I play to introduce new people to her music. (So far I'm partial to the 10-26-02 Paris live version, all piano.) Yet, it doesn't seem to wind up very high on many "favorites" lists here. (My "second" SW favorite, would be Pancake, to give an idea of the type I like. And my overall favorite is Bells for Her.) _________________________________________________________ Reed Darsey / Grand Bay, Alabama, USA / eFax 520-569-6961 ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 10 Nov 2002 12:02:34 EST From: VioletLilith@aol.com Subject: Re:Tori tour Tampa report <> there was another song here! does anyone remember what it is? i want to say it was a song from "venus"! *jennifer* ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 10 Nov 2002 14:00:21 -0500 From: "Matthew DeWaal" Subject: RE: From HMV.com I was in an HMV store yesterday and they have the CD packaged with Scarlet's Stories. The show was great, I wasn't sure about her playing with the band because I loved her so much solo last year, but when I heard it, I liked it again. Anyways, me and my friend (another girl on the list that NEVER posts) were very entertained by her. Not only did she put on a great performance, but she had us laughing throughout the show. She talked about her friend and made up a little song about that, and she talked about lipgloss and did the same. I know a few people were wondering about the merchandise there and I don't think anyone posted about it. There was around 4 or 5 t-shirts, and some of them were offered in the babydoll style shirt. There were two sweaters, two baseball tees, everything from stationary, a poster, to postcards. There was no calendar, but there was obviously a program. There were also two necklaces and a beanie. That's all I can remember right now. I was really happy with last nights concert, it was the most enthusiastic crowd at any of the concerts I've been to of hers. I have an extra ticket (center left, 26th row) that I'm willing to give up at what it cost me (50.75) to a person who is willing to either drive me (discounting gas and tolls of course), or be my navigator on Friday, 11/15. I'm 50 miles north of Philly and am also willing to put up a soul or two if you don't mind sleeping on a couch. If I can't find a ride/companion, I'll be giving up both my tickets as I won't drive into Camden alone. It's too... smooth. Not raw enough. >> Well, to me, LE and PT sound very polished and smooth. I think that's the reason some people are comparing Scarlett's Walk to them, including me. The difference between your emotional stake in the first few albums versus this new one is that the first few were autobiographical and filled with a "new" voice that you'd never heard before. Tori exhausted this side of her songwriting experience after a while. There's only so much personal hurt and pain one can express. It's like poetry writing. One day you grow up and realize that you can't be so egocentric anymore; it's just impossible. I have learned to mature as Tori has. My story practically mimics hers (but I am still childless right now). I graduated from gloom and doom at about the same time she did. Time to move on. So I went to the Melbourne concert last night and it was so good words cant even compare. I saw Mike there but I didnt say anything b/c I didnt want to sound stupid and say something like "I like you web site" so anyways I finally got to hear tear in your hand live, which is my all time favorite song hands down. she looked more beautiful than ever, and I cried three times during the performance. When I saw her walk out on stage I almost forgot how much I love her. When she performed Past the Mission I was baffled at how much that song grabbed me. For some reaosn it has become my new favorite. Other than the merchandise being so expensive I had a great time, I just came back very poor. Sorry so long. Love you guys!! The only reason I am asking is because most of my Toriphile friends also enjoy Dave Matthews. I figured it couldn't hurt. Again, I apologize. I am looking for one (1) halfway decent seat to the DMB concert in Washington D.C. on December 22nd. If anybody has an extra they are looking to get rid of or know of somebody who does please, please give me a holler! I tried getting tickets for through Ticketmaster and...well...it did not end happily. Again, I am sorry for pissing anybody off. Thanks for you time.
