A Sorta Fairytale (original Single Version) > 4. A Scarlet Story (multimedia) To my understandign it's these two that will be out in the UK, although my instincts tell me that only the maxi single will ever be released. Apparently there are issues with stores not wanting to order both because they're too similar, apparently this happens when 'not enough B-Sides are provided by the US'. My boss tells me that this usually ends in the scrapping of one of the singles. Might be wrong in this case, but I thought I'd mention it. Over the past few weeks, the single has been scheduled for release on Oct 14th, then Oct 28th and currently (according to www.dotmusic.com), Oct 7th, this coming Monday. I don't see why they should cancel it...it's been receiving airplay on BBC Radio2 which is THE most popular station in the country. Granted they have an older listener demographic so they're more likely to buy the album than the single, but it means it should at least go Top 40. Plus Tori is appearing on GMTV, on ITV this Monday morning (and she'll be performing the single!!!!! Yay!!!). All in all I think it has the best chance of being commercially successful since Spark back in '98. I'm crossing my fingers. Over the past few weeks, the > single has been scheduled for release on Oct 14th, then Oct 28th and > currently (according to www.dotmusic.com), Oct 7th, this coming Monday. Dotmusic is very rarely updated and hasn't been very accurate of late. It had the single title wrong last I checked. It won't be Monday, though I don't think. Yesterday's scheduling meeting moved it to the 14th from the 28th, and removed the non-maxi single. That's the state of play as of today, but you know, your guess is as good as mine at this point. Heaven knows, it'll probably have moved again next Thursday. I'm getting concerned at the lack of promotional copies doing the rounds in the UK, especially considering the lead times for most publications. I know security is tight, but they haven't promoted it around UK universities at all (the student representatives haven't even had the single) which means it's going to miss publication dates for reviews and airplay. It's also not high on the student rep priority list, we've been told merely to serve it to radio, rather than plug it. Not that we can, seeing as they haven't sent it to us. I think there's another PR company handling it in the UK, regionally, too, but I'm not sure who it is. Of course, while I like Tori, I'm mainly going to see the opener, Howie Day. :-) Anyone going to see Tori who doesn't have Howie's cd and wants it before they see him? ;-) Only $10 if you get it from me, with a sticker, and its the original indie release with the hidden track, not the one in stores! Ok, yeah, I have posted about that before... but I have no problem with begging ;-) I only need to sell 30 more to win a dinner with Howie :-) (5 more for a free shirt) But anyways... to anyone seeing Tori, make sure you get there in time to see Howie Day, b/c he is one of the amazing performers I have ever seen... the cd is great, but his live shows are indescribable. ~~Jenn ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 03 Oct 2002 13:06:36 -0700 From: shaman@eskimo.com Subject: Re: On Thu, 3 Oct 2002 08:05:33 EST, you wrote: > >hi all ewf > >i am stressed getting ready for the pre-sale and clueless >although i did this last year i still have questions >and cannot figure out answers... > >1. do we put our address in the e-mail box at the presale site >or is there a universal bit for the tori list... >or nothing at all > >2. is the password still "fairytale" >b/c they changed it from "scarlet" and i am all confussed that they >havent changed again.... > >thanks, >e You use whatever you registered wi TICKETMASTER there! Since it's less that two weeks away I doubt they'd have enough time to change to any alternative choices now. I suspect this one is already made and sitting in a warehouse at just about this time. They'll probably load it on the trucks next week so it can get to the distributors for the following weeks monday deliveries. ------------------------------ End of precious-things-digest V7 #230 *************************************
