Some information: CD singles now cost #2.99 or #3.99 on the first week of release, and #4.99 thereafter. THe rules were changed way back in 1998 allowing an artist to only release three tracks on the one CD single if they wanted it to be counted towards the chart. (I remember this because "Spark" was one of the first CD singles I bought that had three tracks). Multiple CD singles seem to be a thing of the past, although I'm not sure whether or not this has to do with the insane amount of crappy artists out there who don't need multiple CD singles to get to number one. Conclusiom: I don't buy many CD singles now, unless they're Tori :0) Thanks, Laura ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 18 Jul 2002 08:59:09 -0400 From: guapo stick Subject: more tidbits from neil's journal these are all from wednesday, july 16th: http://www.neilgaiman.com/journal/journal.asp I assume that any Tori fans who want to know about the next album already know everything that's up on this article at Billboard.com. (The quote from me actually came from a letter I wrote to Steve Erickson, who I thought would like it, which I'd copied to Tori's people, and when they saw that paragraph they asked if they could use it to explain what the album was. I said, of course.) I'm really looking forward to hearing the finished CD with all the instrumentation on it. A few of the songs on there go back a way (I remember hearing an early version of "Gold dust" when I was out in Florida chatting about the album that would become Strange Little Girls) while most of them came about post-September 11th. They are all part of the tapestry, though. posted by Neil Gaiman 1:00 AM ___________________________________________________________________ >I know you hear about Tori all the time, but these lyrics to "gold >dust" were posted on the Dent forum and I was wondering if they >were indeed authentic. > >never fear >love will come around >before dusk >(etc etc, fake lyrics snipped) > >Robert Nope. posted by Neil Gaiman 9:35 PM woj ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 18 Jul 2002 14:01:14 +0100 From: "ForgottenSecret" Subject: RE: Interesting view Hey, I wondered this too and I found this page: http://www.imabimbo.com/torimad.htm ForgottenSecret - ------------------------------------------- I was wondering, I pulled out an old tape I had forgotten about of Tori Amos, it was a concert with Alanis, anyway, someone did something to provoke an interesting reaction out of Tori, she stared at someone in the audience for a bit, then flipped them of for a good 30 second, and then told them to "eat my pussy" and I was wondering if anyone knew the story behind that? It was quite the interesting thing, it was during her song Waitress. I don't want remixes, i don't want album songs on the single, I want something like Cooling, Black Swan and Flying Dutchman... God I don't want Tori singles to go commercial. That's horrible! Atleast they got what they deserved, I probably would have gotten up and smacked them around. But I liked the way she handled it. Thanks again! I think I saw someone, a few digests ago, write that the lyrics were Britney Spears-type stuff... We all know that Tori has written a lot of deep songs, and that her music has been like a diary. Well, sometimes, a person doesn't need to go in depth with things. I think I understand the feeling in this song. "A sorta fairytale with you...." I dated a guy for over 4 years, and we always thought our relationship was like a storybook fairytale, though it turned into a horror novel at times, but many relationships do, and so are many fairytales like horror tales. So, his and my relationship were kind of like a blissful fairytale that meets with the horror, and eventually, we ended, but it wasn't the happy ending type fairytale. But her relationship (with Mark) has continued, and it's like a fairytale for her....and has yet to have an ending...but it's still sorta like a fairytale. They're creating their own fairytale. I view it as a sweet yet realistic love song. Love happens, and just because she's not angry about it, or writing "really deep thoughts" (what's so amazing about really deep thoughts anyway?;), doesn't make this song's lyrics any less thoughtless. It's just Tori exploring another facet of the complex human being.
