I would love to be corrected on this, but Chamberlain never played with Soundgarden. We realized there's probably more confusion than anyone realized, because Matt Cameron and Matt Chamberlain have both played for a few bands and both, at one time or another, DID play for Pearl Jam, which was closely associated with Soundgarden. Matt Cameron has played with them extensively since Soundgarden broke up: http://mattcameron.cjb.net/ And Matt Chamberlain played with the during some shows in 1991, including the one that was filmed in the "Alive" video: http://www.mattchamberlain.gq.nu/career.html In case you weren't sure just how incestuous the Seattle scene was and is, Andrea found this link: http://allthoseyesterdays.net/html/Tree.htm Right. The set will be her debut for Epic following a 13-year association with Atlantic, and is the follow-up to last year's "Strange Little Girls." A U.S. headlining tour is being set up for the fall, with international dates to follow, according to Epic. Author Neil Gaiman, who wrote a story about the "Strange Little Girls" characters for Amos' 2001 tour program, offers some insight into "Scarlet's Walk" on the artist's official Web site. "The CD's about America -- it's a story that's also a journey, that begins in L.A. and crosses the country, slowly heading east," he writes. "America's in there, and specific places and things, Native American history and pornography and a girl on a plane who'll never get to New York, and Oliver Stone and Andrew Jackson and madness and a lot more. Not to mention a girl called Scarlet who may be the land and may be a person and may be a trail of blood." "Scarlet's Walk" was produced by Amos, and recorded in Cornwall, England. The set reunites her with in-demand session drummer Matt Chamberlain, who has recently recorded with Lifehouse, Liz Phair, Jeffrey Gaines, and Fiona Apple. Chamberlain also played on "Strange Little Girls," as well as Amos' 1999 release "To Venus and Back" and 1998's "From the Choirgirl Hotel." It's probable that he will also hit the road in support of "Scarlet's Walk," as he notes in a post on his official Web site that next month he will "fly to Cornwall to start rehearsals with Tori." Bassist Jon Evans, who appeared on "Strange Little Girls" and "To Venus and Back," also plays on the new album, which will be preceded by the single "A Sorta Fairytale." Epic will service the single to U.S. radio outlets in August for airplay consideration late in the month (an exact date has not yet been set, according to the label). Released last October, "Strange Little Girls" debuted at No. 4 on The Billboard 200 and No. 3 on Billboard's Top Internet Albums chart. The album - -- which featured interpretations of songs by Lou Reed, Depeche Mode, Eminem, and others -- has sold 357,000 copies in the U.S., according to Nielsen SoundScan. - -- Barry A. Scarlet Queen, Amos's Epic debut, is due October 15. The self-produced collection was recorded in Cornwall, England. Scarlet Queen is Amos's seventh album.
