As for the album's namesake, Scarlet "may be the land and may be a person and may be a trail of blood" and is the personification of everyone's search for answers, as the story of the album goes. The album's musical and lyrical journey was inspired by the tragic events of Sept. 11 -- the album was written entirely after the attacks on America while Amos was on the road. Scarlet's Walk -- Amos' ninth -- is set for an Oct. 15 release date on Epic Records in the U.S. (Oct. 14 internationally) and was produced by the often-eccentric singer-songwriter-pianist in Cornwall, England. Drummer Matt Chamberlain and bassist Jon Evans once again appear on the album, which is Amos' first release under her new deal with the Sony label. (She had previously recorded for Atlantic Records, with her last album being 2001's covers album Strange Little Girls.) The first single, "A Sorta Fairytale," will hit radio Aug. 27, while Amos will kick off a headline U.S. tour this fall with an international trek to follow. - -- Carrie Borzillo-Vrenna ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 08 Jul 2002 19:50:27 -0400 From: guapo stick Subject: yet another scarlet's walk blurb http://www.mtv.com/news/articles/1455970/20020708/eminem.jhtml Based on a cross-country trip taken after September 11, Scarlet's Walk, the first album by Tori Amos for her new label, Epic, is finished and scheduled for an October 15 release date. Amos' sixth studio LP follows last year's covers album, Strange Little Girls, and will be introduced via the first single, "A Sorta Fairytale." ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 8 Jul 2002 21:07:38 EDT From: Mermann658@aol.com Subject: Re: los angeles times mentions scarlet walk And with the comments of woj comes the dawn of digging out the goodies from the new album. :-) >>interesting idea. eastbound. the tour was westbound. maybe scarlet is going towards new york city from the rest of the country?<< Also; thought this was interesting to think about: East: The rising sun; dawn; Spring; hope; childhood; dawning life; youth. It is the direction towards which worship is oriented, especially for all solar Gods. Ceremonies concerned with death and resurrection stress the East as sunrise and life and the West as sunset and death. From: An Illustrated Encyclopaedia of Traditional Symbols (J.C.
