I wonder what would you like it to sound like? Or maybe you have any thoughts on new tour, huh?" I dunno.. she did do solo parts during the FTCH tour am I right? if so, I'd love to see her play in small theatres again.. only with the full band.. have her solo moments, etc.. as for the ALBUM.. I assume she's gone back to the band again.. or at least done half-and-half.. whatever the case, all I hope is that it's stellar.. I shouldn't hope it cuz it probably WILL be stellar anyway.. but hey.. whatever. :D Sincerely, Cyndi S. "Most of the music on the album - his first for ISO Records - was recorded by the trio of Bowie, bass player Visconti and drummer Matt Chamberlain." I figured this was news because Matt works/worked (whichever. lol) with Tori. :) Sincerely, Cyndi S. Oh, I wasn't trying to say there is no similarity of paradigm in that line to some of the people interested in the music and the rest of your image, but I was responding to what I thought AJ said she believed, which was that Tori would think that were an appropriate name to call us as a group, as AJ said, 'in lieu of "fan/admirer/etc".' Maybe I misunderstood AJ. > I took this to mean that he now had someone as devoted to him as her > fans sometimes can be, even suggesting a bit of jealousy. I think the > line is written in his voice, not Tori's, and so it's his perspective on > her success. And that's one example of how much the songs live their own lives. :-) Seriously, some of the greatness of the songs is how they can evoke various meanings that are quite disparate. Keeping in mind the overall tenor of Boys for Pele being essentially a woman's journey leading her to find her own fire, the main character and protagonist in the songs would be female. Going to Tori's thoughts as expressed in the May/June 1996 B-Side magazine: http://www.yessaid.com/interviews/96-05B-Side.html "'Doughnut,' that's so much to me the ache of...I think one of the most important lines in the entire record for me was 'you told me last night you were a sun now with your very own devoted satellite, happy for you and I am sure that I hate you, too sons too many too many able fires...' there's the Cain and Abel reference, there's the idea that you can't have two whole beings together. And I *couldn't* live like that, and it made me really sad, that whether it's a female relationship or a male relationship, we're not supporting each other to make a whole. When I am not happy when you are taking you as far as you can. I can't support that or I withhold from you because the truth is I am afraid you aren't going to *need* me anymore. > I'm sure she wants us all to be our own suns. Yes, absolutely. As for Brian's question of the line being "two suns" or "two sons," the Pele sheet music book has "too sons" as does the interview snippet above. Ha ha ha ha ha ha! Funny stuff. (I checked the print version of the magazine to be sure, BTW.) Be seeing you, Richard Handal, H.G. ------------------------------ End of precious-things-digest V7 #130 *************************************
