I love it! lol.. very rarely is a cover of someone's song AS GOOD (if not better) to me as the original! She seems to be able to do that VERY well. Sincerely, Cyndi S. About two months ago my girlfriend came over and said "I bought something i think you'll really like." Only, she said she had bought it for herself and that i had it already, which confused the hell out of me. When she finally got there, she produced a Tower Records bag; apparently, the lack of my aggressive music collection at her place had been hounding her, and she decided to treat herself to two cds that i already had and would probably not lend her. Which two? Why, my two FAVOURITE modern cds - Garbage's debut album, and From The Choirgirl Hotel. Two months later, she is IN LOVE with Choirgirl -- even occasionally allowing me to regale her with tales of concerts and b-sides. Though i had always been aware of Tori, and had nearly bought Pele several times due to a healthy obsession with Caught A Lite Sneeze, i was always scared off by her mystique and the possessiveness of her fans (hehehe). In April of 1998 Philadelphia's Y100 actually had Spark in rotation as the release of Choirgirl approached, and i kept hearing it while i was waiting around trying to tape "Push It" from Garbage's soon to be released Version 2.0. I floating into HMV on May 5th looking for something to tide me over until Garbage came out the next week, and it just so happened that FTCH came out that day. So, i bought it. Tori literally changed my life. I read sheet music because of Tori; i know chord theory because of Tori. I made my first friend at college because we had the same Liquid Diamonds plugged tour shirt on. TVaB put me to sleep every night away from home during my first quarter of college. And, in the summer of 1998, i subscribed to this list. To date, it is my longest running consecuctive subscription to anything, ever, in my life. I know that us Choirgirl fans are somewhat looked down upon, and i understand the concept - Choirgirl is diluted Tori-Magic if you view any of the previous three as perfection. The thing is, i think all four of them are very near to perfection ... so, of course, i have a knack for looking down on Venus and SLG fans. Not honestly looking down, really, so much as wondering about how they got so entangled in the myth of Tori when they had such a diluted material to become a fan of. However, so long as you wind up seeing and moving through all of Tori, it doesn't really matter which album or song was your door or window into her world. My opinions on albums aside, i just wanted to say hello (again, as i have already done so in the past) to you all because i've spent a lot of time and a lot of emotion keeping track of you for the past four years, and i don't seem to have any intention of stopping anytime soon. I know it can be annoying when everyone jumps onto tell their own personal "Why I Love Tori" story, but i've been lurking without saying anything all year and i was due to open my mouth. Thanx for your time, - -Krisis http://crushingkrisis.com ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 10 Jun 2002 18:22:09 -0400 From: "Wendi Smith" Subject: empowering tori I have a younger cousin who is going through a pretty rough patch in her life. She is 13 and boys are starting to pressure her already to do things that she doesn't want to do...sexually. So I was talking with her today and I don't know if my message got through or not and she knows how much I have always loved Tori, and how much Tori has always helped me, so I am trying to make her a mixed CD of some empowering Tori. And I was wondering if you guys could help me make a list. Here are the songs that I already have: Silent All These Years Cornflake Girl Bells for Her Girl Crucify Little Earthquakes Any suggestions? wendi _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com/intl.asp. ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 10 Jun 2002 22:21:21 -0400 From: "Becka" Subject: Fw: [ottawaewf] Upcoing tour > Me and Morgane have taken it upon oursleves to try and do what the vancouver > BSB fans did they got them to come to BC. on their tour.
