Funny, Bells For Her is one of my least favorite Tori songs. However, when I heard her play it live on the Venus tour I was like OH MY GOD!! I agree with you, the TVAB version of Bells is simply awesome. Tony ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 2 Jun 2002 01:13:23 EDT From: Ratatoullie@aol.com Subject: Re: More from Neil... It is, as he puts it (and as filtered through my bad memory), a scary book for strange little girls of all ages. Its target audience is 'young adults', as I recall. He has recorded the book and will release the audio CD of it first. His original intent was to release the CD in June and then the book itself in September, but that got changed due to vagaries in the book-selling business. At this time, the CD version of the book will be released on 18 June 2002 and the book itself will be released on 02 July 2002. You can pre-order them from Amazon: CD - http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/006051048X/littlebluewor-20 book - http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/0380977788/littlebluewor-20 And, finally, there's the Coraline website at , which should have some real honest-to-god content in the next few days. I heard him read a good chunk of this at Boskone (a scifi convention) back in February, and it sounds like it'll be absolutely great. I'm most likely going to buy the CD version as well as the book, because Neil reads his own stuff exceedingly well, and really adds a lot of nuance to his already great writing. (if someone can do a pal conversion, let me know!) 4) i'm not sure how many copies is too many yet. if i get overwhelmed, i'll post. if you're interested, please e-mail me at woj@smoe.org off list and we'll get back to you with the details. also, i have two extra copies of this video as my friend recorded three of the airings for me. one copy is going to lily, who has said she will help out with dubbing (look for her offer shortly). i'd like to send the other to someone else who will also offer to make copies for folks. if you think you can be that person, please e-mail me. woj ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 2 Jun 2002 17:06:45 -0700 From: violet@torithoughts.org Subject: Re: More from Neil... I like listening to Neil read, too, but I'm determined to get the UK version somehow. Back in April, Beth W. sent me Neil's diary entry about it. He wrote: I used to have an English accent. These days I have a transatlantic accent, of the kind that the Americans think is probably English, the English think is probably American, and the Australians and New Zealanders know is neither an Australian nor a New Zealand accent. If you want to hear what that sort of accent sounds like, you can listen to the HarperCollins complete and unabridged version of Coraline on audio, coming out in late May -- May 18th, I believe. (And read by me.) The only person who will have real problems listening to it is me. Hearing my stuff in audio is a bit like listening to a message on a telephone answering machine I left for someone else -- I wind up stabbing for the delete or skip button in embarrassment. Which meant I wanted a Coraline that I could listen to, so when talking to Bloomsbury, the UK Coraline publishers, who wanted an English accent, and a female one at that, I suggested someone who I thought would be, in every way, perfect for it -- able to cope with the accents, with the humour, with the stuff that's too scary to be humour, with everything in there. I had a number one choice, last seen (by me) playing Bottom on the West End stage, and didn't have a number two or a number three choice. Bloomsbury asked the number one choice, and she said yes, and has recorded the UK unabridged audio book. Which is something that I am looking forward to hearing no end... ...Coraline read by Miss Dawn French. Half of French and Saunders (the curvier half) and doer of much else besides. (Neil Gaiman) Beth knows I adore Dawn, so she knew I'd pee my pants to hear that. This will be amazingly wonderful!!!
