If anyone has Tori's lyrical and vocal prowess on the male side of the fence, it's Maynard. And if anyone matches Tori's musical and instrumental genius, it's Adam, Danny, and Justin. Not to mention Tori and Maynard are great friends and have collaborated at least once. Personally, I'd love to see a kickass Tori guest piano part in a Tool song. Or some wailings from our dear Maynard on a special Tori track. mmmmmmhmm. must...listen...to...Aenima...now... matthew. ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 21 May 2002 08:25:26 EDT From: Mazzystar999@aol.com Subject: tori stories hello everyone! i just bought a set of four tori cds entitled "tori stories".it includes live recordings, covers(such as princes "purple rain",nirvanas"smells like teen spirit",and the carpenters "weve only just begun"),it also includes rarities like attila the honey, and tori recording under myra ellen amos, with the songs baltimore, walking with you,and a happy day.i just wondered if anyone else had this or had heard any of these songs and what they thought about them.and also, are there any toriphiles on this list in the MA area? ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 21 May 2002 10:28:09 -0400 From: "Lisa Zwick" Subject: Re: tori stories I bought that a while back (I must have been crazy) for 80 bucks. Thanx for all the suggestions!!! If I get totally blown away by any of them I'll be sure to say something! I figured this would be a great way to get introduced to some new music! Hope others on the list benefited from it as well! In the meantime, if anybody ever listens to an album that just blows you away - it'd be great to hear about it on the list. It may not be directly Tori related but often people that enjoy one artist, enjoy the same other artists (if that made sense!). If you would like to make a comparison to Tori's music in recommending, that'd be cool too. Quite often I lean toward folky unusual not well known female artists - but I often have a hard time hearing about non-mainstream artists now that I'm out of college. For me its all about lyrics, lyrics, lyrics... and as we all know - Tori Amos' music doesn't disappoint there! Thanx again for all the suggestions!!! (they both have very similar views about things such as religion, etc.. Manson is just more.. theatrical about it with the makeup and the props and all the other stuff..) As for the other four (Kid Rock, Green Day, Madonna and Michael Jackson..) *shrug* I like these artists, period. :) Anyway, I also liked how everybody else immediately ran out and got some suggestions for you to try out as well.. I may end up trying out some of these other artists myself. Sincerely, Cyndi S. You didn't just get 200 people all saying "Kate Bush!", which I'm sure Tori would be relieved about... I mean, Kate is fab, but The Church of Tori is a damn site broader than some might give us credit for :-) Pete xxxx - --------------------------------- my husband ran off with my shaman but they love me as i am ------------------------------ End of precious-things-digest V7 #110 *************************************
