I asked several of you question after question, each time you came back with precise information - Thank you so much for all your help! Based on what I already knew, and what I garnered from all of you, the following is my conclusion. There are but two current singles available - German & UK. While neither has been "officially" released, there has been a large number of copies leaked worldwide. Some people reported that their single was from Italy, Greece or Sweden. However, the only thing about the single from any of those places was the paper import sticker stuck to the sealed cd jewel case. I've created a web page detailing the German single and how to tell if yours is the German version. The German version states "Made in Germany by Warner Music Manufacturing Europe" on the cd itself and "Made in Germany" on the paper insert. http://www.geocities.com/slgsingles/German.html On the other hand, as if created to confuse, the UK version is lacking a specific place of manufacture. It lists Atlantic in the US and e/w for everywhere else outside of the US as its only manufacturing source. No specific country is listed on either the cd itself or paper insert. I believe both the US & UK to be the same cd. We will see for certain - if the US version is ever released - or leaked. I believe it to be UK because in each case it was bought either in the US with an import sticker attached or was purchased in the UK as a regular single. OK, so that's it for now. Although there was a SLG single slated for release in the States, it was pulled before pressing could begin. The one that is sometimes being billed as the from the UK is actually pressed in France. The one that's billed as German really is pressed in Germany. (At least one of them makes sense!) /nm ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 30 Jan 2002 13:32:33 EST From: Yessaid@aol.com Subject: Re: want info about the CALS SNL performance... On the album version, the background vocals in CALS were done by Tori. It seems to be mostly wailing, but you can also make out her wailing the line, "bring your son" in the background. As for the live version, she's never had a male choir singing the backing vocals, but on her Saturday Night Live performance of CALS, there was a small boys choir lip-synching Tori's backing vocals. It was obviously a recording of Tori's voice, which was kinda odd... And yes, there is a choir on Pele - in "Way Down" (and the same choir on "Beulah Land," which was held back to be used as a Choirgirl b-side. I hope that helps. jason www.yessaid.com t o r i p h o r i a In a message dated 1/30/2002 8:55:45 AM Eastern Standard Time, JNe9027355@aol.com writes: << hey all, i know its been discussed much but... i haven't got any conclusive info about the background vocals for the recorded version or the live one. from what i do know: tori taped her recorded version vocals acapella in a church.. a male choir sings the vocals for the live one. for other live performances, how are the vocals done? someone said that she thanks a choir for vocals on PELE,but that isnt so cuz it says all vocals done by her. finally, are there any lyrics to these vocals? if they're just wails to blend with the music, then they are amazingly composed, because they fit so well. they remind me of the scene in Romeo&Juliet (1996) where the actor sings, church-style, prince's 'when doves cry'--the background vocalists just soar like tori's does. -AJ >> ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 30 Jan 2002 18:00:06 -0800 From: Brian K Tanaka Subject: desktop backgrounds EWF, Here's the URL for my fledgling Tori desktop backgrounds page. The heartbreaking real life events that prompted T to write "Juarez" (TVAB) will be told tonight on 20/20 Downtown (10 PM ABC). Sorry to those on the East Coast, I only found this out moments ago. As far as I know T won't be a part of the show. (I haven't read Dent today.) It would be amazing if they included the song.
