I'll have a stab at this .... Warners don't press in the UK anymore as far as I am aware. Anybody who owns a "Silent" A7433 pressed on an old UK YZ618 blank will know just about when they switched production to Germany. Every Tori album and single since has been sourced (I think) from Germany. For example both the slimline and the normal jewel cased "China"s were made in Germany, even though the full jewel cased ones were for the UK market. I could be wrong but I would expect there to be ONLY a "Made in Germany" version, regardless of the market it was intended for. There could be a "Made in USA" single - IF it was pressed up there. The European release was due much earlier (a month or so ?) than the US release. They may have pressed in the US, maybe just promos or maybe even relied on imports for promos until the US plants pressed up. Given that the US promos were very different to the UK ones (Single mixes of "Heart of Gold" Etc) and given Atlantic's hose-the-punter marketing tactics, I would have expected the US single to differ from the European one - even if just to irritate people like myself and MysT :-) Now we could all get REALLY sad and start collecting the "Country of Origin" stickers but I might just shoot myself first - I seem to have several hundred SLG CDs already, thanks to Atlantic and there's only so far I will go collecting wise ! Mind you, the Chinese one with the extra tracks is cool :-) Love to all, RTA (who, at 10PM, is off to drink UK Stylee Brown Water) ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 25 Jan 2002 19:56:13 -0500 From: Subject: RE : SLG Single RTA wrote: > I'll have a stab at this .... > Warners don't press in the UK anymore as far as I am aware. I can't recall if they're still pressing in the UK, but they are using two different plants in different countries for the manufacture of CDs. I just did an interview with Tori's family archivist [1] for "Little Blue World", and he said this. I'm quite sure the man knows what he's talking about. :) /nm [1] This interview will appear in the first anniversary issue of LBW, which will go to subscribers in May. We just finished the fourth issue, and it should be in the hands of subscribers in the next couple of weeks. If you're not familiar with LBW, we're a professionally-printed fanzine based in the US. Everybody but Woj (who I heard from), could you just drop me a note and let me know you got everything fine? I'm sure there was no problem, but what with all the biohazardous mail rubbish going on in DC, I just want to make sure. Thanks everyone! love, sonya ------------------------------ End of precious-things-digest V7 #22 ************************************
