If you listen to any sort of club/rave music from then, it sounds alot different than it does now, just like boys for pele sounds different from From the choirgirl hotel. 1997 was when armand van helden got really big and known for his prodcuing/mixing skills, and his styles have changed with a variety of musical backgrounds. The only part I dont care for much is the break down when she is singing...it is a little slow to play out (meaning in a club or rave)but "butchering" is what a re mix is,or its just called a remix. I am a big fan of armand van helden, even though he charges 50,000$ to re mix a song and probably the same ammount to play for an hour or two at a party. I still like Blue Skys and Rabbit in the moon "Precious things" better, the orginal, not PVD or deep dish remixes, tho they are all pertty good. Think of a song at a club...how long are they? good chance you cant tell when a new song is being brought in. These songs on average last from 8-15 minuits, not the average song you are listening to in your CD player which is about 3 min.. These "dancy beats" are ment for djs to use. If you have been to a rave and like the music, then you should know the joy of feeling how hyped up a crowd gets when good beats are playing, there is a great sense of emotion in these songs, reptitve beats and all. I have been working PW into my dj set and those "many minuits" are used to help que in other songs so the DJ can "mix" and there fore make his/her personal touch to the song. What you may concider a "good part" of the song, may not be good for someone else...which comes down to taste. Which is also the reason some people like Tori, or Armand, and some dont. I personally think tori should do more vocals on dance tracks, and I am in the process of remixing a tori song with some other dj/producers ;) have you heard the PMT Deeper water yet? i still havnt found out if it was sampled or her recording yet..... >===== Original Message From JNe9027355@aol.com ===== >this mix pisses me off, it just butchered the song. i go to raves often, and >it just appalls me to see how everyone thinks it's the greatest thing when a >dj drops it because it has so many dancey beats. You shouldn't feel stupid. This whole mess with the single has been really confusing. It's had a billion different release dates, it's been pulled and put back in. But the final word is that, yes, it will not get an official release. That said ... You -can- get the single. The single was actually pressed, and some stores have it. In the States, I've seen it at Best Buy and Tower Records. Stop by, check out their singles or imports section, and you might get lucky. My local Tower had the single for $7.99, Best Buy had it for $11.99. G'luck. :) /nm ------------------------------ End of precious-things-digest V7 #17 ************************************
