[kyoo' min] is also acceptable, as is [koo' min], although some dictionaries don't list the latter. (I've always used that one myself.) There's a nifty soundfile pronunciation at: http://www.bartleby.com/61/33/C0803300.html Just click on the little loudspeaker icon thingie. If that doesn't work (and sometimes it doesn't for me), there is also a soundfile in the online Webster's: http://www.m-w.com/cgi-bin/dictionary I can't link to that one directly, so you'd need to look it up first. I wish there had been dictionaries with soundfiles when I was a kid. They're so cool! It's especially fun to play the soundfiles for silly-sounding words over and over. I was wondering if anyone knows of a website that sells good quality bootlegs and videos and stuff of Tori. I mean, when I was all Alanisy, I know there was a website where this guy made CDrs and bootleg stuff not to make a profit off of her, but just so we could hear the same cool stuff he got to. So, he sold the stuff for pretty cheap, just charging the amount it cost him to make. Okay, I know this is a pretty boring e-mail, so, sorry!! But, does anyone know any cool Tori people that do that? Thanks guys! -Amanda- p.s. thanks to everyone that helped me with the whole neil and mark thing and everyone who's helped me feel welcome on this list. You guys rock. ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 10 Jan 2002 08:57:26 -0500 From: "n'woj" Subject: Re: tori cds and stuff when we last left our heroes, Icy7654@aol.com exclaimed: >Hey guys!! But, does anyone know any cool Tori people that do that? in both places, you should be able to find people who will make copies of tori live recordings for you for the cost of materials or via blank & postage trades. (in fact, i just made an offer yesterday for the 2001 charlotte show and my previous offer for any of the other tomb recordings still stands.) >p.s. thanks to everyone that helped me with the whole neil and mark thing and >everyone who's helped me feel welcome on this list. You guys rock. since none of those responses made it to the list, it's probably a good time to remind people that replies to precious-things, by default, are directed to the author, not the list. if you want the list to see your reply, you need to add precious-things@smoe.org to the addressee list. woj ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 10 Jan 2002 09:05:07 -0500 From: "n'woj" Subject: Re: Strange Little Girl Single when we last left our heroes, Brian K Tanaka exclaimed: >This morning I opened the holiday gifts my sister had sent and one of the >items was the Strange Little Girl single. (I'm assuming this is the UK >release that wasn't supposed to be released until 12/31?) far as we know, this single, despite the many copies which people have found, has not been officially released. no one really knows what the deal with it is, but none of the online retailers are selling it (i think cdnow and amazon finally withdrew it from their listings). the suspicion is that either a shipment of the singles was leaked out in europe or, perhaps, it was released in some parts of europe unbeknownst to the atlantic overloards. in any event, there are copies to be found...though they are getting harder and harder to come by. woj ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 10 Jan 2002 10:04:32 -0500 From: acopperbeechDryad Subject: Re: Strange Little Girl Single n'woj wrote: > far as we know, this single, despite the many copies which people have > found, has not been officially released. i found a few copies of it at Best Buy... just FYI. be well! - -- ~ kelley "i remember having forethought, but i don't remember what happened after that." ~me _____________________ The Saferoom Project http://www.saferoom.org/ ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 10 Jan 2002 21:45:36 -0300 From: "cdrv" Subject: CALS live on SNL Hey List! I was hearing CALS live on SNL, thanks to Woj, who kindly send me an mp3 (thanks :). OH MY GOSH, even though it isn4t like the DDI version, there is something on her voice, it seems so much hurt in it, that is send chills dowm my spine. I notice that in the album version, her lead vocal is sort of sweet; but in here there is sort of a crash between her sorrowful backing vocal and the low and raw register of the lead. I believe it was labeled as Tori Amos - Father Lucifer (Tubular Bells Mix) but I'm not sure. It didn't seem to be a mix, just that she was playing it live this way, with a synth or some such thing in the background, during the tubular bells part. My memory is a bit rusty, but anyway . . . Can anyone do a file transfer with me or know where I can download this from? (I can't access The Force of Tori Amos FTP to see if it might be there. No luck on Morpheus, either) Thanks, Lauren ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 10 Jan 2002 22:03:00 -0600 From: "Carmen Riojas" Subject: under the pink limited edition i looked @ cdnow for the SLG single and found a listing for under the pink limited edition for 28.99. there was no other info. do any of ya'll know what might be on it? ------------------------------ End of precious-things-digest V7 #8 ***********************************
