I apologize for the impersonal nature of this email, but I wanted to let you know some exciting news we just found out. After researching the nation's 819,000 charities, Worth magazine has selected RAINN as one of "Americas 100 Best Charities." According to Worth writer Reshma Memon Yaqub, the magazine spent six months investigating charities and "calling on the expertise of dozens of philanthropy experts to come up with a list of the nation's 100 best." RAINN was one of 30 "human service" charities chosen. According to Worth, "We feel that the charities on our list are essential for maintaining a caring society." As you may know, RAINN is Americas largest anti-rape organization and operates the countrys national sexual assault hotline. The hotline (1.800.656.HOPE) provides free, confidential counseling 24 hours a day through its network of 889 local rape treatment center affiliates and more than 10,000 volunteers. In mid-2002, RAINN will launch an online counseling service to complement its phone hotline. RAINNs website, designed and donated by BionicBox, recently won About.coms "Best of the Net" award. RAINN receives no government funding. The hotline is supported entirely by contributions from individuals and companies. More than 88 cents of every dollar raised is spent directly on services for victims, making RAINN one of the most efficient nonprofits in America. This year, we need your help more than ever. As demand for RAINN's services continues at a record pace, fundraising has dropped significantly since September 11. You can help RAINN by encouraging friends and colleagues to make a holiday donation, and by including RAINN in your holiday giving. Please support RAINN with a tax-deductible donation today. Donate online at www.rainn.org or call 1.800.656.HOPE, extension three. Or, you may mail a check or money order to: RAINN 635-B Pennsylvania Ave, SE Washington, DC 20003 The "100 Best" story will be in the December issue of Worth, the "magazine for the dynamic wealth market," which hits newsstands on December 6. It is also available online. Thank you for your past and future support of RAINN. I hope you have a great holiday, and I look forward to speaking with you soon. I had to drive back solo from the left coast and I've got a ton of backed-up email. Tori'll sign just about anything you manage to hand her if Joel doesn't stop her first--which he will if he sees you're trying to get her to sign a bootleg CD. A tour or two ago she signed a lawn gnome. This tour in Oakland, she signed a bong. Nuff said. ;-) Be seeing you, Richard Handal, H.G. ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 4 Dec 2001 13:16:01 -0500 (EST) From: Richard Handal Subject: Re: Greatest Hits ~ Mike Gray said: > I would assume that all the singles will make the cut . . . I wouldn't assume anything. Who knows what Atlantic is likely to do. Tori still owes them two new songs, and one must think they will go on the greatest hits disc as is common practice for such things. I'm expecting high amusement when we get to hear those songs. :-) > . . . and maybe they could release the forever delayed Complete Videos > DVD while they're at it? I don't see why it wouldn't come out eventually. I don't know why it's been delayed, but maybe there's something we don't know about to have caused that--and to prevent its ever being released. I hope not. > My thought would be whether Atlantic will now re-release YKTR to make > money out of it... I always figured that since she's renegotiated her contract several times, surely one of the things she asked for was that Atlantic never release it. She obviously has an affection for certain songs off of YKTR and not others. Her main objections to the album were the circumstances and results of its recording, so her performing a couple songs off of it isn't in conflict with her continuing to dislike the album itself. A few weeks ago I wrote to ask for suggestions of Tori songs a friend could use in her English class. She teaches seniors and wanted to use Tori in their feminism section. Many of you wrote with suggestions and my friend, Paula, and I thank you all very much. You had some really great things to say that made us both think a lot. It was very cool. Paula has decided to go with "Mother" and teach it in conjunction with the myth of the Rape of Persephone. She'll be teaching the poem "Daddy" in the class before, so together it will give the students insight into women's relationships with both parents. If there is time, she'll play Ani DiFRanco's "Out of Range." Many of you wanted to know what she had decided, so there it is. Thanks again from both of us. I'll let you know how the class turns out. toodles, Tom "All the carnage of my journeys makes it harder to be livin' He said, 'It's a long road to be forgiven." Hello EWFs, I am very proud to announce a new comprehensive Tori Boot artwork site created by Matt (matt2278@yahoo.com), Jenifa, and I. Currently, this site contains all available artwork at high resolutions that we could find. For those shows where there is not any high resolution artwork available, we will be working on adding lower resolution artwork in the coming weeks. http://toriscans.inmyhead.net/ We have created this site to be a resource for the tori-boot community, and hope this will solve the answer to the ever popular "where can I find artwork for ____?" In order for this site to be kept comprehensive and update, we need your help. If you have artwork (high resolution preferred, but will take low resolution if that is the only type available) please email it to us (toriphilemaria@aol.com or matt2278@yahoo.com). We would also love to hear any comments or suggestions you have. ~~toriscans team (Matt, Maria, & Jenifa ) P.S.
