Muchas gracias. *~[Adjoa] >> ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 7 May 2001 04:24:14 EDT From: Mysterilady2001@cs.com Subject: Tori Solo ~ Hi ya EWF ~ I'm always excited when Tori's recording - it means new goodies in the near future! I remember when Boys first came out & the tiny itty-bitty difficult time some (read: me) had wrapping our In-Love-with-LE-&-UTP-Minds around it (BFP). Soon we (OK, me) grew to love Father Lucifer, Blood Roses, Marianne, Doughnut Song, ...etc. Then I recall how different Choirgirl was and it took a few listening's to grasp it and move along the path with Tori - (Choirgirl map ref). Tori changes and that's my favorite part of her music. I know I wrote my feelings about the changes in her personal life reflected in her music (ups, downs, in love, in pain); so I wont bother anyone with that again. I've been excited about her new upcoming music since she had her daughter. I knew the change would happen again and even more so now that she was a happy Mom & Wife. I have never seen Tori look happier or more beautiful than the pregnant belly showing pic from Vanity Fair last year - Absolutely Gorgeous! I'm not surprised to see a major issue like pornography affecting her new music. As a new Mom things that were only so-so important suddenly become big *real* issues because we now have a child to protect in this sometimes big bad world. The subjugation of women and even more so the sick VOLUNTARY subjugation of women is an issue important to her (and Me). This may be the tour where Tori not only celebrates motherhood but focus's on the message of her music. While that's certainly possible to do with a full band, its the times I've seen Tori solo, either in tour or with band offstage, that she got so very personal with us all. Those are memories with substance. I've been lucky to see Tori in small venues & large, with band and alone. Each is an experience worth noting. I have a pic of Tori singing sans piano from the UTP tour book. The pic feels, to me, that she is indeed missing something - Bosey. Her piano is part of her and THAT'S what we come to see. The band could come and go but the piano is Tori. I'd be open for her to sing a solo without piano, I mean stand up, just Tori and mic - (not Me & A Gun style, sittin' at Bosey) - but fully standing and belting out a song solo. She records this way. Piano tracks separate from voice tracks. Be very cool to see live. Band, no band - either way I'll be there with bells - and wings & tiara - on :-) Now, I'm not a Madonna fan. I mean I don't follow her. She's very smart in how she reinvents herself and thus keeps her image fresh. (OK, not lately, but before.) I'm not convinced Madonna's changes are internal but are more of a marketing ploy. Tori's changes are internal and she shares these with us - those of us who think about the line, the song, the album in their individual & entire context. Right now, this very second, I'm thinking of Tori's fabulous quote "I'm going to take YOU on the ride of your life" - I so enjoy that quote, it's so true for me. Coming up we have the next leg of our journey - Strange Little Girls. Pack yer bags - I'm Ready to Go Toodles ~ MysT Here's the pic of Tori singing solo. http://www.geocities.com/collecting_tori/ToriSolo1.jpg Question: What's with the tree stumps? (hehehahahoho!) *Personal news: Jim & I are sooo excited - We just booked our Honeymoon! :-) *** ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 7 May 2001 18:37:32 EDT From: Twinkle018@aol.com Subject: New Tour... a way she hasn't in a long time... I think the possibility of Tori touring solo is a great one... but, maybe also smaller venues... kind of like the early days up to DDI and Club tour. Maybe she'll play not as many places now, since she'll have her child in tow. Just thoughts... I'm not really sure. I'm just so grateful to be able to see her again. I didn't expect anything this soon. Toodles, Dez ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 07 May 2001 23:50:28 +0100 From: "Rob Ettridge" Subject: The Next Tour OK Going out on limb here... If she's really touring like she hasn't done in a long time, maybe she's ditching the old joanna. I know that Tori without a piano is almost incomprehensible, but if she's being as radical as she claims, maybe this is it. Just wanted to let everyone know that complete archives are now available for the RDT/RDTRN mailing list. Yay! I've been dreaming of this moment for years. Major major thanks go out to woj and to Ruud van Melick for their months of hard work getting these set up for me. They've done an amazing job! This week we're all three sort of lying in a puddle on the floor, trying to recover. But it was worth it. As Mikewhy mentioned on the Dent (which is a great point), the archives contain reviews of shows all the way back to 1992. They also contain many articles that were posted over the years, including many early ones that I'm not sure appear anywhere else online any more. Pop on by and have a look. http://www.torithoughts.org/rdtrn/archives/ And I wouldn't mind if you felt like dropping a note to let me know what you think. ;) Violet xoxox ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 7 May 2001 16:50:41 -0700 (PDT) From: Danielle Marcial Subject: Re: RAINN Day Here ya go, We also publicize the hotline through the annual RAINN Day promotion. The first-ever RAINN Day on May 16, 1997 resulted in a sixteen-fold increase in the number of calls to the hotline. On that day, nearly 1000 radio stations, along with MTV, VH-1 and The Box, interrupted their programming at the same moment to play a RAINN ad and Tori Amos' "Silent All These Years." I found it while I was browsin the RAINN site. :) ~*Danielle*~ - --- FreakamI@aol.com > wrote: > >What day is RAINN Day? >I was looking for it on the site, >but all I could find was that its in May? >Any help would be appreciated. >Muchas gracias. > > >*~[Adjoa] >__________________ > >"The higher you are, >you want to see what's below." > >.[rasputina]. _____________________________________________________________ Read and submit poetry at http://understatement.com ------------------------------ Date: 7 May 2001 08:42:51 -0700 From: rengel@mail.tds.net Subject: Touring Touring in a way unlike anything she's done recently... My personal thought is that she's planning on touring with the band but at small venues. Here's why: 1. She said she wants to tour in a way unlike anything she's done recently. Her last tour, with Alanis, was at HUGE venues. Tours before that were at sizeable venues also. 2. She won't ditch the band because, as she says, "My roots are Zepplin". I recall one particular interview in which she says that she wanted a band but was without one because the time wasn't right, so she waited until the time was right and then got one ("but turtles race"). The idea behind WKTR is the same reason why she has a band now. 3. She did a few more intimate shows during the Sneak Peak tour, but the major tour was back at huge venues with tons and tons of crazed fans. I personally think she did the Sneak Peak tour that way because she enjoys smaller venues (when she stopped in Chicago, she said something along the lines of "This is one of my favorite places..."). We all know how much she enjoys being able to connect to the audience, and she has said before that the energy from the audience influences her performance and the show as a whole. I can think of one reason why my theory is flawed, however. When she did the DDI tour, she was relatively unknown with a much smaller fan base. Multiple records, radio airtime, etc, later, her popularity has grown by leaps and bounds. In order to do smaller venues and still reach the same number of people, she'd have to do multiple shows in each city she stopped. That means the overall length of the tour is increased or that she does fewer cities. Ryan On Wisconsin!
