Not 'my' sister, whom I like very much, but dominantly the women's movement. Women have this facade of fighting for the same cause, but can be so cruel, so slimey at the same time. I trust my male friends a lot more than my female friends. Men just want to get along with you. They won't nag about the fact things are going so well for me.They're happy about it. Whereas women will try and give me a complex of guilt. Make me uncertain, make me doubt myself. So that I don't dare go on stage, because I'd be afraid to have no success. I've only ever seen them associated with Atlantic releases, too - IIRC, the US edition of Catatonia's "Equally Cursed And Blessed" has the same deal, as does Jewel's inappropriately named "Joy". Basically, as Woj noted, the MPEG files are indeed on the CD, in the *hidden* folder called "content". I'm not a dog trainer, per se, but I am a dog groomer and I breed and show Shetland Sheepdogs. This line always makes me think of socialization. "she needs more hands" - she needs more people touching her, more exposure to people, more socialization. It could also be a negative thing in that often the dog trainer is involved in making the dog "obedient", making them "fit into" the household (society), making them less instinctual. instincts. "Dogs represent, among other things, he (or she) who loves from the heart easily and long, who forgives effortlessly, who can run long, and fight, if necessary, to the death. In the world of archetypes, the dog nature is both psychopomp--messenger between the topside world and the dark-lit world--and chthonic--that of the darker or farther back regions of the psyche, that which has been called the underworld for eons." The above excerpt is from "Women Who Run With the Wolves" by Clarissa Pinkola Estes, Ph.D. Michelle Tori Lyrics Information at The Biggest Thickest Ever Sky: http://members.aol.com/gud4astorm/index.html "Go out in the woods, go out. If you don't go out in the woods, nothing will ever happen and your life will never begin. Go out in the woods, go out." ~ Clarissa Estes ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 12 Feb 2001 13:23:06 -0500 (EST) From: Abbe J Cohen Subject: the dog trainer again I think that The Wrong Band is a song about a bunch of prostitutes and in particular one who doesn't really want to be doing it (we're in the wrong band, hanging out with the wrong group of people) but somehow doesn't get herself out of it either. And has some pretty wry comments about what she has to deal with. For instance "he's got a soft spot for heels and spurs"... and the line someone asked about: "It's the dog trainer again - he said he thinks that she needs more hands." I thought of it as yet another wry comment on the kinky things she gets asked for - he's a dog trainer, and spends so much time telling dogs what to do that when it comes to people he wants them to act 4-legged too, but she's only got two hands, not four. It just always fit together that way for me. Maybe I just have an odd sense of humor, but that line always makes me laugh. :) I'm glad to see people talking about lyrics, btw. Welcome Daniel - My pleasure :-) On answering your question about VCD's - No idea! BUT, I have been repeatedly watching the Crossroads CD's "enhanced" attraction of Tori performing Springsteen's "I'm On Fire". Its very well done in format & content with the added plus you don't have to be hooked to the Internet to watch. The sweeping camera angles are fab and extreme close-ups of Tori are gorgeous. With a click of the mouse you go from a 3"x4" mini screen to a full screen. I'm lovin' it! As far as Tori info is concerned I pay attention, take mental & physical notes of what I see, garner information from my fellow EWF & use my TAC (Tori Amos Collectibles book) like an EWF bible. (Jim and I have been discussing that it badly needs updating.) I am also a research Maven. I'm a Tori completist. I'm not an obsessed person, I just kinda sorta collect everything she's done. It's fun finding rare stuff and hella exciting getting a deal! Some might think me looney - I consider it an investment. And I have fun with it :-) Fun like the following ~ After tossing & turning all night - dreaming, AGAIN, of finding 5 perfect Baltimore's in a thrift store Myst wakes up & screams: "OMG I think I'm an obsessed Tori collector!!!" She searches for help for her malady: "Is there a 12 Step group for us?" The reply quickly comes: NO "No? Did you say Nooo???" - MysT retorts - "Alrighty then... I'm starting one TODAY!" And she does. MysT single-handedly takes on this brave new crusade. She puts the word out that help is available for those who are, too, suffering - The message is out. And it reads like this - Welcome to TACCA - Tori Amos Collectibles Completist Anonymous. (I like it, it sounds like taco - Tori likes taco's :-) (( Sounds like sumthin' else too, but we'll ignore THAT & move on...)) Do you know ALL the record import sites online and have them on speed bookmark? Are you on first-name basis with the sales staff of said sites? Do terms like PRCD, Promo Acetate & SAM excite you?
