These look more like the ones from my Rhapsody in Pink commerical boot. Is this person a scammer or are there different versions of Tori Stories? ~~Maria http://cgi.ebay.com/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=1402838270 ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 09 Jan 2001 22:01:02 -0500 From: nmielke@mindspring.com Subject: Re: Questions about Tori Stories ToriphileMaria@aol.com wrote: > I was browsing e-bay when I saw the follwing item; my question is, I > have an original Tori Stories Box Set that I purchased in 1996, > and my CDs have a greenish/aqua color with the title, and are not > like the CDs pictured on this ebay auction. There are different versions of the four-CD bootleg box set "Tori Stories" [1]. The -original- "Tori Stories" is the one that you see on the eBay page you referenced. The easiest way to tell it is by the discs themselves. The first print run of "Tori Stories" had the Pauline Stuckey artwork on each of the discs. The second print run of "Tori Stories", by the same company, was nearly identical to the first one. The difference was that the discs no longer had the Pauline Stuckey artwork on 'em. Everything else about the first and second print run of "Tori Stories" was identical. They came in the same white box (front: taken from Tori's 1994 Spin cover (IIRC), back: text listing of the songs on each disc), had the same liners for the CD cases themselves, and came with the booklet of pictures. If you have the box, but not the Pauline Stuckey art on the discs themselves, then you have a copy from the second print run. There is, IIRC, another version of "Tori Stories" that doesn't come in a white box at all, but I can't recall the details of it. I believe that it's a bootleg of a bootleg -- that is, another bootleg company got ahold of the original, copied it, repackaged it, and sold it as their own. And it's not like the original bootleg company has any recourse against the copying bootleg company. ;) One can argue whether or not the original "Tori Stories" box set has increased in value. I purchased my copy when it came out for US$70. So, for me, it probably has increased in value. However, many other people reported seeing it for sale when it first came out at US$200 and more, and I recall one report of it for US$500. For those people, they're at best breaking even. HTH. :) /nm [1] I'm being very specific here, to avoid any confusion with the "Tori Stories" booklet that came with some copies of the "Complete Videos". The boots are, of course, boots; the booklet is a legitimate promo item. ------------------------------ End of precious-things-digest V6 #4 ***********************************
