Okay, so for my birthday (a few weeks ago)I got a bitchin' new sound system.. I noticed this morning that it has Kareoke on it.. So I let the CD's that were in there play as I sort of.. discovered this feature, and one of the cd's was BfP.. It got to Professional Widow, and I started hearing a sloshing noise.. Like water.. Underneath the vocals because, in case you didn't know, with Kareoke, the vocals disappear! Anyway, has anyone else ever noticed this water? The biggest 'slosh' if you will, occurs just as she starts the vocals.. right after the first moo of the cows. Kareoke is so rad.. It sounds like you're in the producer's booth at the recording studio.. and you can hear the music because it's so loud, and you can barely hear her vocals.. Ohh I can just imagine being sat outside the door with my ear to it listening intently as she recorded!! Exciting!!! love Amy that wasn't too bad or drawn out, was it? __________________________________*__________________________________ GiVe Me LiFe, GiVe Me PaiN, GiVe Me MySeLF aGaiN __________________________________*__________________________________ ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 21 Dec 1999 13:21:28 -0600 From: "Aimee" Subject: Re: under the influence >>>Why did people think she was out of it/stoned/drugged > >I once read someone slagging off Tori by saying "she doesn't know how to be >a proper interviewee" (or words to that affect). Which of course is exactly >why we love her - she can't and won't do the cheesy "Hi I'm Tori Amos and >it's so fab to be famous!" I personally thought her appearance on the View was hilarious. "Tori, your music really seems to come from the heart! What inspires you?" "Food." "Really? I'd, um, thought it would have been deeper than that. Anyways . . . " Honestly, the first time I watched it I thought she was being . . . not sarcastic, but maybe a little annoyed. When I rewatched the clip, though, it just seemed like she looked very uncomfortable and didn't really know how to respond to that question, straight out of the blue. I think Tori really opens up in conversation, when she feels like she can just go ahead and talk, as opposed to during more of a question-and-answer. She sort of has to be comfortable with the interviewer and feel like they're on the same wavelength. Her MusiquePlus interview was a pretty good example - it's pretty much the best interview of her I've seen on TV. It was a good hour and a half show totally devoted to tori (vs. listen to her play 1000 Oceans, buy the CD, wham-bam-thankyouMa'am) I think the girl who interviewed her really was a fan - she mentioned going to an UTP concert - and both of them seemed to really enjoy themselves and they talked a LOT. later, aimee ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 21 Dec 1999 07:25:56 -0800 (PST) From: Jennifer Mitts Cypres Subject: Glory of the 80s video Hello you gorgeous EWF, I was just watching (or trying to watch) the new Tori video (go to to get a look using RealPlayer), and I was wondering if anybody knew if this is from the same director as the British Cornflake Girl video. I think it's very reminiscent. Speaking of Tori videos, anybody know what other music videos Tori's directors have done? I'm just curious. Also (I think this has been asked before, but I've forgotten the answer), anybody know of a way to save a RealPlayer video to your hard drive and play it back WITHOUT having to log onto the Internet? See, my problem is that the videos are always very choppy on the Internet (at least for me they are) and I never get a smooth feel of the video, and this new one looks so interesting, I'd really love to see it the way it was meant to be seen. Hugs, jen P.S. Wish me luck. I'm going under the knife (or laser) today at 2:00 to get my vision corrected through the new Lasik procedure. Either I'll come out with 20/20 vision or I'll be blinded for life. ;) ===== "This year will go down in history. For the first time, a civilized nation has full gun registration. Our streets will be safer, our police more efficient, and the world will follow our lead into the future!" - -Adolf Hitler, 1935 Note: I am NOT a Nazi sympathizer. I thought this was funny because the right-wing pro-gun philosophy is right in keeping with Hitler's own philosophy. This picture disc is alleging to be a promo from Atlantic records 'from the forthcoming doubleCD album' My favorite music magazine UK RECORD COLLECTOR did a tori interview for their November issue (BOWIE on cover), and then updated tori's discography with UK estimate prices/guidelines. I founds some of the prices ammusing, giving the "Precious Things" picture cd promo a price estimate at 250 UK pounds! One may be wondering why I said the picture disc alleges to be a promo. I know for fact, that the picture disc bootlegging has become most popular once again. Alot of the picture discs are actually originating from Mexico these days. Some of the old U2 catalog has seen recent picture disc releases-bootlegs from foreign markets. I was wondering if anyone else can comfirm the Venus picture disc release and its origin? Either way, it is an awesome collection piece. haves ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 21 Dec 1999 20:23:41 EST From: GoneAndromeda@aol.com Subject: Re: Glory of the 80s video In a message dated 12.21.99 5.26.48 pm, knoxtorifan@yahoo.com writes: << I was just watching (or trying to watch) the new Tori video (go to >> any helpful hints on how to play this thing? when i went i was able to play random videos that i did not choose...but when i clicked on tori nothing happened, thanks johanna ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 21 Dec 1999 21:46:03 -0500 From: fartachu Subject: Re: Glory of the 80s video when we last left our heroes, Jennifer Mitts Cypres exclaimed: >Hello you gorgeous EWF, aw, shucks. ;) >Also (I think this has been asked before, but I've >forgotten the answer), anybody know of a way to save a >RealPlayer video to your hard drive and play it back >WITHOUT having to log onto the Internet? the non-free version of real player will allow you to save real media files to a local file *but* the server which streams the audio/video to you can be -- and often is -- configured to disallow local saves, so there's no sure-fire, straightforward way to do this. if you're enterprising, though, there are some work-arounds: * use another program to capture audio and/or video * follow the realmedia redirection to find the actual file and grab that directly instead (again, it helps if the person setting up the server doesn't quite know what they are doing...) i haven't played around with this much, so i am sure there are other techniques out there. if so, i'd be interested in hearing them...off-list, if necessary. woj p.s. good luck, jen! ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 21 Dec 1999 17:30:24 PST From: "The Huntress" Subject: Re: Professional Widow (Album Version) Tori does explain in her biography that those sloshing sounds in the background is actually a farmer shoving cow shit around.
