The idiots that supposedly work at the store didn't know a thing, as usual. Why did this single disappear? THe only thing they had was the original Sep 7. single....what happened. Icicle Many if not all of Tori's songs seem to be layered with different meanings. Even if you ask the woman a question you 'll never get a straight forward answer.(That's partly what I love about her)she keeps you guessing. As for Icicle & rape or molestation, I myself don't see it. Bare in mind this is my personal opinion.I would like to hear a good strong reason why people are interpreting it that way. I always thought it was a comparison of sexual ecstasy to religious ecstasy. "He's in my pumpkin pj's" Well every ones downstairs sing Jesus loves me and Tori's upstairs really singing Jesus loves me. She's going at it and fantising about Jesus (who she always thought was cute) he's in her pumkin pj's. And not anyone else. I could go on and on cause I love that little ditty, but I won't. __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Hello everyone, I've been wanting to do something like this for a while. I'm not sure if it is going to work at all since I've never attempted to do anything like it before. I am doing a pull of everyone's favorite live Tori song. It can be any song Tori has ever performed live. Just email me and and give me your three favorites in no specific order. I will be taking votes up until Nov 1st. Thanks, Andrew ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 15 Oct 1999 20:33:05 +0100 From: "squidgy" Subject: Re: icicle=rape?? I really don't believe this song is about rape, I believe that whoever reviewed the song did so briefly and didn't really take the time to study it in depth. The line 'he's in my pumpkin pj's I have always felt represented 'the devil' - the devil being 'he' as if masturbation was 'evil'.This whole song represents Tori as a young child discovering her body to say 'he's in my pumpkin pj's' as to mean anything other than the above, makes it sound as if she is being interfered with or suggesting she suffered sexual abuse as a young child. To me this song clearly represents childhood innocence, conflicts between 'good and bad' and has nothing to do with Tori in her later years, I don't believe Tori would want it confused with as such either. I'm looking for Tori's TV appearances, I would love to find Unplugged, I definately need Sessions at West 54th, Tori on Letterman playing Bliss and the most recent Leno appearance would be nice and all other Leno, Rosie, Letterman, Conan, 20/20, Good Morning America, whatever. I have Storytellers, Review, Fanatic, TRL, and last night's Conan. I don't really have trading capabilities, but would love to do 1:1 or 2:1, B&P whatever. I tried this once before, sent out the tape and return postage and never heard from the girl again. Thanks all! Do we really LOVE Sonic Youth, or do we just admire them from afar? I mean, I LOVE Peggy Lee, puffy clouds, and puppies. Don't get me wrong, I like Sonic Youth just as much as the next guy, but come on...LOVE? http://www.inkblotmagazine.com/We_Love_Sonic_Youth.htm Reviews: Tori Amos, "To Venus and Back" I saw her in concert once. It was killer. The stage was decorated like ancient Egypt. There were palm trees, a huge pyramid, and two sphinxes up there. Like halfway through the show one sphinx came to life and turned its head and lasers shot out of his eyes and then Tori grabbed this laser whip and started fighting it. There were explosions and everything. No, wait. That was Ronnie James Dio. I always get them confused. Gomez, "Liquid Skin" There was this kid in my fourth grade geography class named Ignacio Gomez and he could pop his eyes out of his head. I mean actually pop his eyes COMPLETELY OUT OF HIS HEAD. Seriously. You'd see the veins on his forehead swell and then you'd hear a "plipplip" and out they'd come. He'd bounce them off the wall. His dad and my dad got into a swordfight once. I used to have a crush on his sister, too. Hilda was her name. Good ol' Ignacio. Sloan, "Between The Bridges" Funny thing just happened. I'm sitting here typing away thinking about Sloan and out of nowhere the phone rings. Just like that. And it hit me: "phone" - "Sloan." Uncanny. What are the chances of two such similar-sounding words occupying my mind? At the very same time, no less. It's a mystery. Am I dreaming? Am I awake? What do we really know about anything, anyhow? I really should read more about this Buddhism business. Alexander "Skip" Spence, "Oar" Wow. "Oar." That takes me back. I used to listen to that on my walkman like every day for a year. That was when I was Bruce Willis' personal assistant back in '85. Interesting fact about Bruce Willis: he has a wooden leg. Honest. I had to sandpaper that frickin' thing every morning while he ate his cereal. Big fan of Kix, Bruce Willis. He ate like two boxes a day. Couldn't get enough Kix. MP3s! MP3s! That's all I hear every damn day. Everyone's like...ahem...a broken record with all this MP3 stuff. MP3s this, MP3s that. Alright already!
