She has beauty, elegance, importance and impotence - cause what does he give her? I have not been able to stop listening to the live CD with To Venus and Back. I had never heard ' Cooling' and the only other time I had heard Sugar was at the concert in Detroit. I also had never heard Purple People. Now I am running around collecting singles in order to get more b-sides. My question, after all this rambling is this: Do any of you know, or have managed to figure out, the lyrics to Cooling and Sugar? I don't have Internet access or I would go searching. Any help you can give would be much appreciated. This morning I was watching MTV and not really paying too much attention to it. There was a 'Biorhythm' (<-- sp?) about Busta Rhymes. Well, when they were talking about how his first son died after 3 hours of living, they were playing Tori singing 'Losing My Religion' they played most of the song. It really fit the situation on the show. It was cool. Just thought I'd share. >> Oooh, ooooh !!! I can answer this question. Busta was in the movie Higher Learning, which plays tori's cover of Losing My Religion. An African woman was singing to me, singing the melody, humming it to me. I got up and found the piano, got up at 5:45 a.m., recorded the melody and went back to bed. [Mark Hawley^Òs father died.] They were so incredibly close that 1,000 Oceans seemed to be the only thing that could bring him out of his sadness. He'd come out and sit and say, 'Could you play that one, the ocean song?' It became about feeling close to people you can't reach, seeing this depth of love for this person who was gone." I think that describes the inspiration quite well. Hope that's what you were looking for. ~~Kristen p.s Everyone: I have been really enjoying the Josephine interpretations. I love the "historicalness" in some of Tori's songs. **** "I know the truth lies in between the 1st and 40th drink."
