Yes.. plenty of her songs have been covered.. the only one I've heard though, is Winter done by Dream Theatre... and it's not very good, imho.. I do have an mp3 if anybody wants to hear.. Hello Dear Friends, the redheaded one (not Tori!) here again asking for your help once more: Apparantly this concert I am to be buying tickets for tomorrow morning is an American Express Gold card event... I have a rough idea of what this is (American Express gets good seats and makes them available to cardholders) and my father is the proud papa of an American Express PLATINUM card... I called American Express and they told me that Platinum and Gold are the cards that this deal works with, and they gave me the number to call to get tickets: (1.800.448.8457, if anyone's interested) I called them, and it being late as it is their offices weren't open.. They open at 8 tomorrow morning, at which point I will have been sitting on my butt for an hour waiting for tickets (hopefully with a wall or a desk to lean on... hence, I WILL be first in line!) I plan on making use of my cellphone and calling them at 8am sharp to find out what the deal is.. But my cry for help is specifically this: Does anyone know what this is all about? Has anyone dealt with this before? What kind of seats are they? Around how much more or less than face value do they cost? Is this a good deal? ANY and ALL help would be, as usual greatly appreciated Thanks so much you guys.... *sniff* I love you all! A long time ago I found a help file that had lyrics to basically every song Tori has ever sung. Okay, well maybe not EVERY song, but you know what I mean. Anyway, I don't know where I found it that one time, but I lost the help file and I want it again, but I can't remember where I got it. So if anyone has any idea what I'm talking about or knows where the site is where I can get it, could you please send it to me? I realize that there have only been a couple of shows on this tour so far and there's NO guarantee about anything, so don't even bother trying to yell at me about that. I am asking for answers based on PAST experiences. I know that this tour is different, but I just need SOMETHING to go on. Okay, now that I've given my disclaimer, to the point. :) I will be attending the Nashville show on Sunday. I have been to Tori shows before but this is the first show that I will have the whole day to myself. No school, no work, nothing. This means that, for the first time, I have a REMOTE chance of meeting Tori. I would love to attend the meet & greet, but I have no idea when people usually start arriving at the venue. BASED ON YOUR PAST EXPERIENCES (and ANY experiences during this new tour), what time should I show up if I hope to be at the front of the barricade? (If there isn't a number system.) What is the earliest that fans usually start arriving? Is anyone else hoping to go to a Nashville M&G, and if so, what time do you plan on showing up? I have waited so long for a chance to attend one. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks. :) I am not as clueless as I sound in this message, I promise! :P I know we don't have much info to go on yet for this tour. I was just wondering what time other people were planning to show up for M&G's. Thanks again for helping. I'll see some of you Sunday at the Nashville show!!! What a totally swell show in Tampa! Tori actually had some of us a bit concerned when she started doing pretty much the same songs as the first show in Ft. Lauderdale, but then things took off and it was incredible, and I was exhausted by the end of Tori's set. I hadn't been on such a journey at a show since last fall, and it was a moving experience for me. First off, the show was set to have begun at 7:05 so they wouldn't run late. Greta Gaines did in fact begin at 7:07pm--in front of very few people. Of course, no one had told the AUDIENCE to get there early. The only reason *I* knew was because during the afternoon when I asked when I might be able to pick up my Will Call ticket, I saw that the woman at the ticket window had a piece of paper in front of her with new times for the acts written in ballpoint pen, which I heard her say to another person in the ticket office had been called in by the promoter. Here was the way that was supposed to work-- Greta Gaines: 7:05 - 7:35 Tori: 7:50 - 9:05 Alanis: 9:45 - 11:00 What happened in reality was that Greta was on from 7:07 - 7:30, and then the place was so slow to fill up that Tori wasn't allowed to come on until 8:05, so they were behind from the get-go. Tori's tour manager (etc.) John Witherspoon kept coming out with a cell phone and surveying the place and seeing how empty it was. I knew there was no way Tori was going to come out with the place 60 or 70% full. I'd guess it was still only 85% or so full when Tori started. The actual set times were Tori from 8:05 - 9:23, and Alanis from 9:56 - 11:14. Had Tori been able to come out and play starting at 7:50 the show could have ended at 10:59. -------------------------------------------------- *COME EARLY IF YOU'RE ATTENDING ANY OF THESE SHOWS!* -------------------------------------------------- Here's the Tori set list: God Sugar Crucify Cornflake Girl Bliss Blood Roses Silent All These Years (solo piano) Take To the Sky (solo piano) Little Earthquakes iieee Glory of the 80s The Waitress Precious Things (encore) The first sounds heard from the stage for Tori's set are some voice samples for a highly rearranged God. Then the band comes on and vamps until Tori comes out and joins in. Steve Caton came out tonight and was on fire. He was playing these intense, screaming riffs, and it was fantastic. I was laughing my ass off. Tori was still alone onstage having finished up Sky when she started into Little Earthquakes, and I just said "Oh, my God." I wasn't the only one. The band came back onstage and joined her. This was pretty much the only full band song I've seen at these first two shows which was entirely an unaltered arrangement from the plugged tour shows. It was quite powerful. I probably shouldn't admit this in public, but I've seen Waitress with the band more than forty times, and I never saw as much interaction between Tori and Matt Chamberlain during the musical bridge than I did during this version tonight in Tampa. They were enjoying themselves tremendously. I'm expecting they may very well go further with that as the shows continue. There were a couple times tonight when Tori was having some kind of technical problem with an electronic keyboard and was forced to engage in alternative "Plan B" piano playing, and those were amusing moments. Caton and Jon Evans were having some bemused glances back and forth for some of this. I wish I had more time to write and that my brain were working better than it is, but I have to blow this Tampa cybercafe for Atlanta.
