She's just gotten it to where she's ready for it to go public. Even the Wind Calls Your Name http://www.geocities.com/Athens/Aegean/7759/index.html Here is the blurb she uses to explain the site-- Welcome to "Even the Wind Calls Your Name". This site was inspired by the strength and healing so many of us have received from the gift of Tori Amos' music. My hope when creating this site was to establish a site where survivors of any kind of sexual assault could go to learn about music therapy, and how it can help them during the healing process. You do not have to be a Tori Amos fan to find some solace or hope here. Everyone is welcome here. Always remember: You are not to blame. It is not your fault. Marian is a student studying music therapy in college, and she says there has been almost no information available on music therapy for sexual assault survivors, and she hopes to establish a greater sense of awareness within the music therapy world. She isn't on this list and I wanted to help her get the word out about her site. Please feel free to tell others. Within the context of the song the preceding lines are "And I know she's not that foxy, boys, you've gotta owe something sometimes". If you think about it, she's turning the tables on the kind of boys who see a beautiful girl and think just because they're good looking that they should "put out." It seems weird that Tori would tour with anyone as "big" as Alanis anyway, in the past she's used virtually unknown acts.<< I don't think Tori is "using" Alanis --- if anyone is opening for anyone it would be Tori for Alanis. Although Tori has been around longer and we all know Alanis's talent pales in comparison to Tori it all comes down to the fact that Alanis sold more copies of her first album than Tori has sold of all 4. Now I do think that they will be co-headlining since concert-wise Tori is a big draw also. I think that this was a great idea - marketing wise for both of them but especially for Tori. Think about it this way, its highly unlikely that Atlantic would allow Tori to take as much time off from touring as she wants (to start a family etc.) so Tori is giving them this little tour and going with Alanis (which undoubtedly they suggested) to appease them. Now I'm not saying she doesn't want to do it --- we all know how Tori is and she LOVES to play live and I doubt she will pass up any opportunity to do so. >>1) why would tori tour with alanis? seriously, it doesn't make much sense. i mean, didn't tori say in some interview something like "i'm sure she's a nice person, but i couldn't listen to that album again" (not quoted, sorry).<< The quote was more along the lines of "on a sonic level I couldn't listen to that album again" which I totally agree with. It was really badly recorded and engineered (my boyfriend told me exactly how, but I won't go into that technical stuff now) and I can't stand hearing it -- it just sounds bad, not the songwriting - the sound. My feelings on Alanis are kinda mixed - I can't stand jagged little pill but the three songs I have heard from her new album are really good. I think she would be interesting live too. >>2) how would a three cd thing be released? i mean, packaging wise? it would make more sense to have two or four, three seems sorta odd<< I have a 3CD pack sitting right here next to me -- its like the old 2CD things that are double space. >>3) i hope tori does tour again, that would be fantastic. only now its going to be harder than hell to get tickets. near the end of the last tour tickets were hard to get and those were in arenas, godforbid if she'd play mississippi nights, the blue note, first ave, or house of blues, you know?<< I'm sure they'll be playing in large places, probably larger than Tori did on her last tour -- like the places Alanis would play on her own. And I doubt tickets would be really hard to come by -- although I have never had a problem getting tickets. Ok well I'm surprised if you have actually read this far :) I think we should all be excited that we are getting a special treat of Tori this year - no one was expecting this and so what if Alanis will be there, just leave after Tori plays or stay out in the lobby until Tori plays. Alanis will not hurt you. Hey when I was 12 I went to an MC Hammer concert just to see Vanilla Ice -- I know, I know ... I was 12 -- but you can't beat that. I loved Jagged Little Pill and played the heck out of it in 1995, and I think Alanis's new album is really great, too. I have it on as I type this. It has a real intensity and some psychedelia about it. Alanis seems like a sincere, even spiritual person, and she and Tori seem to have a lot of respect for one another on a personal as well as a musical level, too. Tori visited Alanis backstage at one of her shows a couple years ago, and from things each have said in interviews, there even appears to be a kind of chemistry between them. For years, Alanis has said in interviews that the Little Earthquakes album changed her. If I'd only seen one Tori concert last year and this was my only hope of seeing a second anytime soon I'm not sure how I would feel about this upcoming co-headliner tour, but as Michael points out on The Dent, this is essentially a lagniappe--something in addition to what we were expecting to get from Tori in the first place. Further, I've heard that Tori is looking forward to this tour, and I hope everyone else can come to a place where they might allow themselves to enjoy this tour as much as she appears ready to. I'm not sure if this has been reported publicly, but from what I've heard this tour is to be entirely in outdoor amphitheatres in the U.S. I've also heard it on good authority from multiple places that this is not going to be a 3-CD set, but that it was pared down to being a 2-CD set, despite what the Spivak quote in Rolling Stone said. I expect that quote was given a number of weeks ago when it was still being slated for three discs. (Now I'm trying to debunk *Spivak*. Great.)
